Need Refill Mugs for Pop Century/ Money Saving Tips

we always take in a back pack full of frozen waters. We rent a carriage and put everything in there.

My Allstar Music Mugs do not have the writing on them that says they are good for that stay only. Does that mean I can use them again? I have stayed at music twice and purchased the mugs each time. My POP Century mugs do say they are good for that stay only.

I usually stay 10 or more days, so purchasing the mugs is definetly worth it. Also, I cannot live without them at home as I have breakfast in the car on the way to work, and then live out of my mug guzzing gallons of coffee all day!

I am sure that I am going to get lots of feedback from my post. But, I have been to disney 16 times since 1996 alone I have used the same mugs since then. My Dh has purchased 1 or 2 here or there. Just because they are somewhat different than the originals. I have seen mugs from the parks getting filled, older ones than mine getting filled. I guess the reason CM's do not say anything is because in my case I am going back many times over and Disney is getting more money from me by going back to Disney than from that refillable mug. At first I was hesitant but I have seen so many other people over the years using all kinds of mugs and nothing being said. That oh-well!!

If your just going to use if for coffee, it may be cheaper for you to request a coffee maker for in the room, and bring your own coffee. That is what DH and I always do. We are actually thinking of purchasing one of those French presses, we are just not sure if they are worth the extra work or not!

Howdy!

I called Pop Century front desk a couple of days ago to ask about this.
The answers to my questoins were that

No, they do not have coffee makers in the rooms and will not supply them upon request. (don't have them to supply either)

Yes, it's perfectly fine to bring my own coffee maker and use it in the room. (Thought I'd just go ahead and ask!)

So my plan is to buy a coffee maker at my grocery stop since I don't want to pack one. I guarantee I'll make good use of it!

Last trip I bought an $8 one at Target and used it in my room at POP, also posted a message on the budget board before I left and passed it along to someone else to use (a sort of 'stroller swap' but it was a coffee maker!)

There have been signs by the food courts for years that stated the mugs are only valid for your current stay BUT

current "unofficial" policy is to let guests fill anything they want: old mugs, 7-11 mugs, paper cups even bread bags.

with permission from a cm, i filled a shopping bag with ice at the beverage station at pop during hurricane frances... the ice machines at all the hotel buildings were empty, could not keep up with demand, all the five pound bags of ice had gone to other (quicker!) guests and the food court was being closed down for the "lock down" so a cm handed me a shopping bag when i inquired about ice and told me to fill it up at the bev station...

so, who filled a breadbag with WHAT?!

Doris was the one who posted seeing someone fill a bread bag with frozen soda.

disneydianne...I laughed at my hubby. He brought our old Dixie Landings cup, 2 PO cups and a Blizzard Beach cup. I wouldn't have gone through the trouble, but it worked out fine. We didn't even go to BB and took the cup to TL and they just charged us the 6.00 refill fee for the scanner sticker. Probably the main reason that they don't care is that sodas are very inexpensive (fountain sodas that is). In a week...besides the thousands I spent to get and be there, I spend another thousand or two eating, drinking, shopping, pictures etc...

It humors me to see people get so defensive about re-using cups from previous stays.

As for food in the parks, we saw a guy go through security with beer in his bag and the security guard made a cute comment about it and let him go on.

My MIL brought peanut butter and jelly for lunch each day and they didn't care. I prefer to eat all of the fun food at Disney. My lunch usually consisted of Mickey bars with a healthy breakfast and dinner. My kids thought their usually stuffy mom was pretty cool last week...lol.

I have mugs from all our visits. If it's a new resort we've never stayed in I'll buy a mug. Not only are they useful to us, but they make great souvenirs.

That said, this trip we stayed at WL and POFQ. I bought a mug for WL, but had a mug from previous trip to POR. When we moved from WL to POFQ, I used both my WL mug and my old POR mug at POFQ. No one, not even the CMs batted an eye.

During that stay, I saw several people using BB mugs, old Dixie Landings mug, old POFQ mugs and no one batted an eye at them either.

If I'm going to Disney, they'll get plenty of my money besides the refillable mugs, especially since I only fill mine with water. The price of soda isn't going to break Disney's bank considering their deal with Coke. Besides, how are they going to know if I bought my mugs now or last year since the design is the same?

If anyone wants to flame me, be my guest.

we bought mugs from asmo and bb last stay and plan on buying new mugs at pofq. we loved the am drink run before hitting the parks and especially loved the drink runs after a long day. ten pm decaf around the pool was great too. wish they would let us use them for our evening "cocktails"
