We are interested in booking a trip this Spring using our DVC points for RCI. Last year we did the Bahamas and enjoyed it. Could anyone recommend another great spot to spend a spring vacation with a 4 year old and a 10 year old? We like the tropics - somewhere to swim and relax.

Hi, Nickel, welcome to the DISBoards! I've moved your post to the DVC Planning Forum. I think you'll get better answers to your questions there.

Sayhello

We own DVC (BLT and VGC) and also own at Palace Resorts in Mexico - we love it there and several of the properties have wonderful kids clubs. They are all inclusive, but we feel definitely worth it. They are also set up like a 5 star hotel so you get nightly turn down, daily maid service, stocked drinks and bar, full room service, tours, etc. Our 2 favorites are Adventura Palace and Moon Palace though Beach and Cancun Palace are beautiful as well. Good luck!

This is obviously a personal choice. Assuming you'd be using DVC to exchange, I'd consider the top resorts in the VI, Aruba, Cayman's. The trouble is that RCI lags far behind II for those areas. I would suggest you generally stay away from the All Inclusive options (with a couple of exceptions) due to costs to exchange it. As a rule the AI options are a very poor deal for exchanging but there are exceptions so decide what's best for you.

As a rule exchangers pay MUCH more for AI options than do owners. The exchange rates for AI for the Aventura Spa Palace ranges from $1800 for 2 low season to $3300 for 2 Xmas with usual High season being $2450. Per the RCI website
Mandatory 7 Day All Inclusive Program Fees are per room, per week in double or single occupancy. The program includes all meals, beverages, activities, non-motorized water sports and transportation from & to the airport.
How much less are your charges than for an exchanger? Also, from what I'm seeing the maint fee is imbedded in the AI fee thus the one who exchanges in is actually paying the normal maint fee for the week in question.

We used the points for three trips to Cancun and stayed at the Royal restorts Islander and Mayan Resorts. Very Home and the five of us had world class vacations. Very nice very clean Facilities and Thrre Resorts all connected means you have room to spread out at different locations each day. Multiple pools to choose from. Just wonderful We recommend it.
