My friend and I will be going to WDW in early December for 7-9 days. We would like to stay at a nice place that has suites. One BR or two BRs would work either way for us as long as there are two double or queen beds for us. Cost is a factor of course as our budgets aren't unlimited. We will be renting a car if that makes a difference. I'm wondering if you have stayed in nice but not too expensive suites somewhere close to WDW if you would recommend that establishment. If so, what made it great? If not, what made it a bad choice? Also how far out should we book? Now or a little later into the summer months? :confused3

How about a townhome/condo rather than a suite - will probably work out just as good if not better price wise and you will get more room and home facilities. If you have a car you have your choice of many lovely resorts in the Kissimmee area.

Hi!

There are so many choices for places to stay. I agree with the previous poster, you can probably stay at a condo for about the same money as a suites hotel.

You can find some really good buys for the time of year you are traveling. I was looking at homes out in the Davenport area with private pools for around $600 for the week. It is a little longer drive... maybe 15-20 minutes to Disney but a lot of space. I'm sure you can rent a really nice 2 bedroom condo closer in for $80 - $110 per night. Check out www.vrbo.com and click on the Kissimmee area or the Davenport area, there are a lot of choices. Or you can try WindsorHillsrent.com. You should be able to find a 2 bedroom for around $90 per night. This isn't just a suite, it is a full condo, with a really nice pool complex.

Good luck!

The Caribe Royale is very close to Disney and has great rates right now, under $100. I am going for a week and it is just over $500 for a 1bed suite with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa. The pool area is supposed to be great too!:yay:

We always stay at the Doubletree Suites in Walt Disney World. It is so big and reasonably priced. It is very clean and we have always had a wonderful experience there. They also run shuttles to the parks if that is an issue.

Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista! We just spent one night there on points and oh, I wish we'd have stayed there an extra night instead of two nights at Nick Hotel! They have free snacks, drinks, sodas in the evenings and a Dive-In movie at the pool, and the breakfast is just mind-boggling for free! Not to mention the hotel itself is gorgeous. I loved it there.

You were so very right. I looked up condos and villas near WDW and there are a ton of them for about the same price as a resort suite. I thought there would be a bunch of hidden fees but it looks like most of them won't even charge a cleaning fee if you stay for a week. I love the idea of having some extra space so we don't have to live on top of each other 24/7 for over a week. Even good friendships might not be so good after that much togetherness!!! So thanks, everyone, for the tips and suggestions. You helped immensely!!

Comfort Suites Maingate East has a handicapped room (shower only) for 62.99/night and a room w/ a tub for 71.99/night. That includes a breakfast buffet. These are the Internet User Rates on the choicehotels website.

we have stayed at marriott Grande Vista and the appartment was great. very spacious, and clean we everything we could ask for.

Check out the beautiful condos at Windsor Hills. Amazing!!

Considering the time period that you're traveling, you ought to browse the gorgeous timeshare resorts available on www.CondoDirect.com , where you can get a 2BR for a week for ~$450-$550, including all taxes, fees, etc. For early December, they have Calypso Cay (Caribbean theme), Parkway Int'l (slight jungle theme), Sheraton Vistana Resort (many pools, cafés, activites, etc, 1.5 miles from Downtown Disney), Sheraton Vistana Villages (waterfall pool, newer resort) and many more. Look at the photos - they're usually pretty accurate. This forum has many people who have stayed at these places and can give you feedback.

If you select a 1BR condo at a timeshare, it will have a king or queen bed in the MBR and a queen or full sleeper sofa in the LR. A 2BR will have a MBR and a 2nd BR w/either 2 twin beds or another queen/full or 2 full beds. A 1BR will have a mini-kitchen at minimum and 2BR's will have a full kitchen. Timeshares (on weekly rentals) have NO daily housekeeping but usually a washer/dryer in the room or free usage on a nearby floor (so pack lightly), sometimes a midweek towel exchange. Pool towels are provided poolside or in your condo. Renting extra days from the resort is usually possible for under $150/night, especially for a 1BR. Or you may opt to say onsite at WDW or Universal (with Front of Line privileges at Univ) for a couple nights at one end of your trip - it's probably value season for good rates. Enjoy! :)

I highly recommend sheraton vistana villages. This place is awesome for the money. Check out special rates at allearsnet.com
