Hello. Really the only thing my son has asked for this Christmas is a new camera. He loves taking and printing pictures and also doing the videos you can with them. Can anyone recommend a good one at a fairly decent price? I thought about getting the printer bundle but as I looked at Walmarts website this morning, it only confused me with all of the different kinds. I may also look on Ebay. I bought my last two from there and LOVE the last one I got. Anyway....thought I would either go there or on Walmart today and get that taken care of. Hope someone can help! Thanks

We'll need some more info... what you do consider a "decent price", and what kind of features are you looking for? Small and compact, or bigger with a long zoom? Easy to use, or more advanced features?

You did mention video - make sure that you get one that can do 640x480 at 30 fps with unlimited length (ie, it'll record until it fills your memory card, not just 30 or 60 seconds.)

If it helps...this is for an 11 year old. He doesn't need anything big...but he likes to take pictures and make videos. A decent price for his age, I would consider around $150. Thank you

Hmm... sorry, I can't offer anything helpful. I did spend some time a few days ago doing heavy research in the $175-250 range but not below that, so I'm not familiar with any of them. You might want to take a look at what's available in that range (via the "big name" store website and online at somewhere like Beach Camera), narrow it down to a few appealing ones, then search for reviews for those specific cameras.

Having a camera that is fairly simple to operate, but with some room to grow would be good. About 4-5MP range with a decent zoom lens. Something that used a standard AA batteries ( you can get the rechargables reasonably), and that is simple to download.

I have enjoyed my Olympus P&S and we have a Canon A620 that does pretty well too, exept it requires software to download.
My daughter just loves being creative with her camera. I've been pleasently surprised with her interesting compositions too.

Thank you. I have the canon A620 myself and love it. But I have really never used the video portion that much and don't think it is as good as one that my nephew has which is a Kodak ...but not sure which one. I noticed Walmart had a pretty good deal on one or two today but that's when I started getting confused. One was around $175 actually. I just know I don't want to go over $200 but he is the same as far as being creative. He's not too much into sports, except soccer, but he could spend hours taking pictures, drawing, etc. So, I would like to get him a nice one. But, yet he is still only 11 and is still pretty rough on things. Thanks for your help so far. I'm home more tomorrow and plan on researching then. If anyone else out there has any suggestions feel free to let me know!
