Need reading help for DS12, need an antonym

I never read it. I was in 6th in 1985.
We never read books for class in the school I went to for 6th. We did so Outsiders in 7th (different school), that was the first assigned book I ever read.

Sounds like an interesting read, I might sneak in a few pages after DS goes to bed.

Ms M has had them read Where the Red Fern Grows (6th), Outsiders (7th), Summer of the Monkeys (6th), and Maniac Magee (6th).

Maniac Magee was read in 4th or 5th grade with my one of my kids. I did Outisders in 7th I think as well.

I read Animal Farm, 1984 and another Orwell book in 6th grade.

I actually didn't like the Pigman. It's a very dated story-- with older language (attache case is a perfect example). It was a dated story back in 1981 and I don't think it has aged well. ETA-- The book came out in 1968-- so it is very dated with language, types of tings to do (I think the kids are fooling on a "party phone line and there are no answering machines or something like that which is pivotal to the story).

It's a fairly lame story. I can't believe that they are still teaching it.

They are very behind the times here. It's the same school I went to for 7th and 8th and all the boys have the same teachers I had. It's Pre-k - 8th and about 235 kids.
