Need Priceline advice- San Diego-four persons???

We have been looking for a hotel in the San Diego area, close enough to see Sea World, Disneyland, Legoland and the Wild Animal Park. Wanted something San Diego or North. Well, the prices are outrageous for August, even the Holliday Inn dump we stayed in before. I want to try a four star bid on Priceline but cannot for the life of me figure out if you can get a room that holds four people. I have never done Priceline before. Any advice or good FAQs on doing this? Or any advice on nice hotels for a reasonable fee (around $120 a night)?

Have you used bidding for travel? It's a great resource for priceline.

Try for LaJolla. The 4* there is the Hyatt Regency. It's right off the freeway. You'll be a reasonable drive to Sea World and Legoland, Wild Animal park is a bit of a drive (will be from anywhere, it's inland SD county). It's a nice area and a nice hotel. Parking is pricey though, you can usually find street parking if you're comfortable with that.

When you bid on Priceline you are only guaranteed bedding for two people. You can always try to contact the hotel after your bid is accepted and request two beds or even non-smoking for that matter BUT they do not have to give you either. Its a chance you take. I have had 50/50 results in requesting an additional bed . We usually bring along an air mattress and sleeping bag for one child just to be safe.... I too have been checking hotels in San Diego for next week. I can't believe the current rates even for 1 or 2 star locations...

be glad ur not here this weekend! We have comic con, american idol pre reg for auditions on monday, the sand castle competition and the horsey races.. dont' know when the horsey races end, perhaps that is when they end and that is why so much??? have you tried hotwire??? I actually prefer hotwire over priceline, and have had better prices with it.

my friend stayed at a radisson in rancho bernardo, got a better rate on their site. . . so try that as well, the hotel site itself . .

Which San Diego are you living in??? I don't think it's humid at all... In fact, the weather's been really nice!

Just curious which Holiday Inn you stayed in that was a dump? DH has a business trip and we are tagging along and a couple choices were Holiday Inns.

I don't know about which Holiday the other poster commented on, but the 2 Holidays Inns downtown near the airport are just fine. Holiday Inn On the Bay is a great place for families to stay close to everything. Holiday Inn Bayside is quieter, still close, and has a great family restaurant in the lobby. Probably one of the best deals in town. YMMV.
