Need planning advice

We are going to AK on Friday, October 14th.
It is open until 8:30. We want to see the tree awakening and any other special nighttime activities.
We were hoping for RoL but not sure that will happen.
Here are my questions:
1. The hours were extended until 8:30. What are the chances it will be extended past 8:30?
2. What other nighttime things can we look to do?
3. We are thinking of going to Disney Springs after AK. How late can we eat at a restaurant? Is 9:30 too late?
4. Can we get directly to DS from AK?
5. How late are the shops open?

3. You can eat 9:30 or later in Disney Springs.

1) I think 830 is pretty solid but you never know these days. There have been occasions when the hours have been changed day of (but to be fair, that's usually only at MK).

2) Can't speak to this point confidently as we haven't been to AK in the evening since the days of PM EMH at the park - many moons ago. What I can say is the ambience of that park at night is unlike any other I have ever experienced. Truly magical. And make sure you hit EE after dark!

3) Can't answer 100% as we don't wait that late for dinner.

4) You can now travel directly from the parks TO DS after 4pm (one way only)

5) Shops at DS are open until 1130 on weekends I believe. Possibly only 11pm - the current DS calendar only goes until the 13th.

I think you will be fine. Someday I'm going to be able to experience the AK at night. It is just not in the cards for this upcoming trip.
