HELP!!
I need some Pixie Dust. My DH and I will be flying to Orlando this sunday for our Honeymoon in WDW and he is scared to death, luckly his dearly departed GrandMothers B'day is also this Sunday and we will be stopping my the cemetary to pay her a "visit" before we go. This is his very first trip flying and hes not real sure about it. Anyone know if the Delta airlines still give out the wings for the frist timers???? Anyway, the weather is so sketchy right now some are saying rain some are saying stormes and some are saying " all clear" who should I belive? I am totally FREAKING OUT!!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~TO excited to sleep~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Has he talked to his doctor? He might be able to get some Xanax (sp?) or some other drug to calm him down.
Unless it involves curing and illness then we dont take any kind of drugs here. Both of us have a family history of people becoming addicted to those kinds of things and so we are VERY LEERY, also he really wants to be awake and TRY to enjoy it. i might let him " Hit " the bar before we board. LOL(jk)
Delta is a very good airline.... ESPECIALLY SONG.. I will NEVER fly another airline. My DGF is terrified of flying... when we went you just say back and watched a movie. Song is amazing. you can play again against other people on the plane... listen to all sorts of MP3...
I tend to "over rationalize".... so here goes..... :confused3
What exactly is he fearful of?? Try to put it in perspective.
Whenever I've travelled with "first timers" I've told them it's like riding a bus, brought along light snacks and suggested they take a nap, brought books, crosswords, etc.
If he's worried about safety, just remind him how many flights take off every hour at your airport and then multiply that by the number around the country each day.... and how they all land safely.
Don't worry - once he's on board, it will all be okay.
Have a great honeymoon!!!!! :lovestruc
My mother is also VERY fearful of flying, but she does it when she has to. If she can make it from NJ to Japan to visit me when DD was tiny, your husband can do it! (Heck, use her if you want - tell him that he can go a few hours and you promise not to make him fly to Japan! <grin>)
One warning - if you let him hit the bar, make it short. Too many drinks and they may not let him on the plane. For real.
A good book or a favorite CD might help. Especially with the CD, he could close his eyes and pretend to be in the passenger seat of a car if he needs to. Once the first flight goes well, he might be ok with future flights. Mom says she still feels like she needs to pedal, but she has some control issues. :rotfl:
Here's some pixie dust for you :wizard:
Just have him think about how much fun you guys will have when you get there - and not just the Mickey kind!! :blush: That should make him forget his fears - LOL!
Have a great Disneymoon - WDW is one of the most romantic places on earth - and fun too!! We still look back on our Disneymoon as one of our most fun vacations. Have a great time! ::MickeyMo
If you are flying song, they have little tv's now and that can keep his mind off of things. Just keep reassuring him. Also since he has never flown, make sure you have some gum just in case he has trouble with his ears.
when my friend came with me for the first time, i let the person at the door to the gangplank know that it was her first time and she was a little nervous.
he let the stewardess know, who in turn talked to the captain. when we came down the gangplank to the door of the plne, the stewardess pulled us aside a momment. then the captain came out and shook her hand and asked her if she had any questions. i think just getting to meet the person whose hands her life was in meant a world of difference.
9 times out of 10----as long as you are early to check in----they will let you meet the captain, or co-captain if you ask.
have a great time!!!
