Need party ideas

We are way overdue to have a party at our house. Our friends throw big budget party with bartenders, DJs, catered food etc. We love going to these parties but its our turn soon. I would like a nice party at a budget price. Some details - we would invite about 35 adults (no kids), party at our home, I would like to serve lots of appetizers (any ideas?), and drinks. Our friends would probably have a good time just drinking wine, eating and chatting but I want to also do something different, maybe a theme? We would like to keep it under $700 if possible. Any ideas? How about some poker/black jack tables? How much are they? I am lost... I wants the party to look like it cost a lot but need budget board ideas.
