We just found out that my brother in law (32) has lung cancer. Not sure how bad it is yet-he hasn't been feeling well for a couple of weeks. Went to his Dr. last week and was told he had gout. He's been on meds for a week now, and last night he was having a hard time breathing and running a fever, also pain in his back. I told him to go to my doctor and get a 2nd opinion-he went this morning and they sent him to the E.R. They thought at first he had Pneumonia and began to treat him for that, then came back and told him they had found nodules in his lungs and lymph nodes. My MIL just called me, she is devastated to say the least....she has lost many family members to cancer. I told her to try to stay positive, we don't know how bad it is yet. He is a single dad with a 6 year old little girl (she's at my house right now). Please keep us in your thoughts & prayers. Thanks

Oh, no!! Sending prayers and pixie dust in HUGE amounts to you!!

so sorry to hear that about your loved one. how on earth did they come up with gout in his lungs or back to begin with? scarey for sure and so young. your family is in my prayers

So sorry to hear this- he will be added to our prayer list.

Rebecca

I am sure your BIL is relieved he has you to depend on to take care of his daughter while he goes to these various appointments.

My thoughts are with you all.

Oh Anne I'm so sorry to hear this. Sending positive energy right your way. I'll keep all of you in my thoughts. Please know if you need anything we are all here for you. Try to stay positive until you know more.

Thanks so much for the thoughts & prayers everyone. Talked to him a little while ago and they released him from the hospital. He also has pneumonia, but they got it under control with the meds, and he's going to see an oncologist tomorrow. Neice is spending the next few days with us-I watch her every day after school, so we're going to try to keep her in her routine with the boys.

I am so sorry to hear about your bil - he will remain in my prayers. How wonderful that you can help his dd to be on a schedule where she will not feel the pressure he must be under.

Anne, I will send positive thoughts and energy your way. Please know that we are all here for you to lean on...

Rhonda

Prayers for you all.

On a practical note - when the dust settles a little, please make sure he has a durable power of attorney, and a document naming a legal guardian for his little girl in the event he is incapacitated for any length of time.

Anne

You and your family will be in our thoughts. I too think its great you are able to keep his DD in some sort of routine.

Hoping for positive news from the oncologist.

Thanks all...talked to him again today and he said the main cancer is testicular, and he has several nodules in his lungs. His appt. is tomorrow morning so we'll find out more then. His DD is doing fine, she talked to him last night and we said a special prayer for him when the kids went to bed. From what I've read on the internet testicular cancer is very treatable, just hoping it hasn't spread very far.

Anne -
So sorry to hear all this - believe me, fingers, toes, and anything else I have will be crossed hoping your family weathers this storm swiftly and as easily as possible.
Pam
