My house is a mess!! I don't even know where to begin. I tried the flylady but fell off the wagon. I have so much stuff all over the place, been X-mas shopping and UPS has been coming with the boxes left and right. I have no place to put anything. Besides that I go back to work on Monday after an extended maternity leave-"6 months". DS is starting daycare and that seems to be all in order, but I am totally freaking out about the disorganized mess in my house, and I still have so much to do for the holidays. Wrapping, tree, decorating, ect. I just don't know how to get back on track at this point. I know I have to stop spending so much time on dis boards but I am procrastinating at this point because it is just too exhausting and I don't know where to start!! Any hints?? I don't know how I'll be able to get it all done once I start working again, with my two older boys sports, tutoring, church ect. But I always like things to be nice for the holidays! Please Help!
P.S. this is not a joke.

I would recommend Flylady, but you already know about it. Still, go to her website, and refresh yourself with it. The basic rules are :

1. Jumping in where they are and not trying to catch up
2. Setting basic routines.
3. Giving 15 minutes to do something.
4. The shiny sink

She really does great writing about getting rid of clutter, not taking it all on at once, and really establishing the basic routines.

She also reminds everyone that we procrastinate because of the tendency to want to do it right or not do it at all. I find this so true, thus the 15 min rule.

She's a big advocate of baby steps.

I hope this helps a little.

That shiny sink thing!!! My sink has dishes in it right now and the dishwasher is full of clean dishes. I need a kick in the you know what!!!!
My sink has not shined for a while. :guilty: It is now 12:00 here....maybe I'll do it tomorrow? LOL there is no help for the helpless!! Thanks though, I need to get on the ball!! I will go back to flylady! :worship: :worship: (sheepishly)

I totally understand wanting to procrastinate, but Flylady is really good on the tough love. I'm a bit overwhelmed these days, too, and have strayed off my routines.

It's really just getting it going again. Make the morning routine, make the bed, dressed to the shoes, the swish and swipe, etc. You'll do fine. ;)

Thanks sleeping beauty!!

About the making the bed thing... I have so much stuff surrounding my bed, I can't get to it. :rotfl2: I think I will just run and jump into it tonight. :rotfl: I guess I should look at what I did do today, I set baby's crib up in daycare, filled out all his forms, went grocery shopping with crying, hungry, baby and 8 y.o. whining ds. Went to the post office. Dropped forms off for my son's school. I wish my DH was around more to help me!! Since he owns his business he is very busy right now. But tomorrow is a new day and I will start fresh!! Thanks again!!

Is it possible for you to hire someone to help you clean. Even a good friend. It would be worth it for you to get caught up and then attempt to keep things that way. You could work side by side or she could clean and you could "throw out stuff" you don't need.

Thanks Dawn,

Actaully I have my cleaning team coming on Friday, but they just deep clean. I have to find a place to put all the stuff before they come. They can't clean counter tops and floors is there is so much stuff all over the place. Believe it or not I still have 4 suitcases in my room with clothes from our Disney trip in October. It's mostly summer stuff and we didn't need it when we got back because it was too cold, so I just kind of "forgot" about it. Besides that I have papers everywhere, it drives me crazy. It's bills, papers from school, forms, insurance papers, ect. That and the laundry can make me nuts!!! :teeth:
