Need opinions for family of (gulp!) 6

Some help please- We'll be traveling with four kids, ages 2-10. What do you think is best? Should we get two connecting rooms or try and find a suite or villa that will fit us? If so, where?

Depending on what you want to spend will decide where you want to stay. If money is not a huge issue, I would recommend one of the vacation club villa's. This would give you alot of room for everyone. If money is tight, then I would recommend connecting rooms in one of the value resorts.

Well, you've a few options. It really depends on where you want to stay (theme wise & location wise), and how much you want to spend.

Cabin at Ft Wilderness

Rent DVC points for condo like accomodations

2 connecting rooms

I believe the deluxe room at WL will sleep 6 too. I not sure if any of the other resorts have 6 person rooms, other than suites.

Also, since you have a 2 yo, s/he is not "counted" as a person. So you can look into 1 room at most deluxes. (You'd get a crib for the baby.) The rooms in CR are quite large, 2 queens, 1 daybed. The only drawback w/ 1 deluxe room is only 1 bathroom.

So you see, many options.

Our family stayed at YC concierge in 2002. The room had 2 queens and a daybed. With a family that size and a good AP discount those are great rooms. My boys, at the time, were 15, 12, 2.5 and 5 months. Having the lounge close by for breakfast and snacks was great. Your family should have plenty of room in 1 room and 1 bathroom was enough for us.

I was actually thinking about Yacht Club. Money's not a huge concern, but I don't think concierge is in our budget.

Mom to 4greatboys, where was the lounge? And I have 3greatgirls and1greatboy, would one bathroom still do it?

I'd like to stay someplace new, if possible. We're open to any theme and we're willing to try something new.

Kimberle, is CR the Contemporary? Have you stayed there before?

Cabins don't sound like my thing, and we loved Wilderness Lodge but would like to try something new.

The concierge lounge is just down the hall from the Concierge rooms at the Yacht Club. Concierge is on the top floor

CR is Contemporary and as stated the rooms are much larger than the Yacht or Beach and so is the bathroom. The rooms at the Polynesian are also very large and spacious. Also at the Contemporary and the Polynesian you get a full twin bed for the day bed, where at the Yacht and Beach you get a much smaller daybed.

One bath for 6 would be too crowded for us, but I am sure many manage. That would be really your call as to what works for your family. However if I was going to manage with one bath I would prefer the bath at the Contemporary.

SuzieQ--I would think 1 bathroom would be okay. Inside the bathroom is the toilet and tub. The vanity area is outside the bathroom. When we stayed in Sept 2002 we got a 40-45% discount on our room. And we ended up only buying 1 meal a day in the parks with breakfast and snacks from the lounge.
Plus you have SAB for the kids. I really loved the YC.

You could do a deluxe room at AKL. They sleep 5...then the baby doesn't count(because any child under 3 is free) and can sleep in a crib! Could anyone verify this?Or am I misinfomed?!

I think a 2-bedroom villa at one of the DVC properties would be the most comfortable. You could have the kids all in one room, and you'd have your own room, too. Naps for the 2-year-old would be a lot easier with this setup. You'd also have a full kitchen and washer and dryer.

Reserving them outright is wickedly expensive, but renting points from a member can be pretty reasonable. The Beach Club has 2-bedroom villas, and then you'd also have access to SAB.
