Need offsite property advice

I'll be travelling to Orlando this summer to attend an event at the Orange County Convention Center. I've decided to take my teenage ds (age 16) along and am undecided on a place to stay. Can anyone out there please offer a suggestion or two? We've stayed on the Disney property 10 times in the past and have had nothing but terrific experiences, but this time we're thinking of staying off site to be close to the CCenter as well as other Orlando activities. Should we stick to the Disney properties that are familiar to us, or try something else? I'm looking for something that would offer amenities for a teenager (pool, gameroom, fast food restaurants or food court in walking distance, etc....) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How about a Downtown Disney hotel? That way your son can walk to Disneyquest, the Virgin record store or anything else that may interest him.

Off hand, I can't think of a specific property that meets your needs, but I know the people on the Orlando (offsite) board can help!
