Okay, so DF & I are struggling with what to do about reception. Here's the background:

Originally, we wanted WP for ceremony and GF for reception. Thinking we're going to have about 60 guests. After receiving confirmation on our wedding date for the WP (whoohoo), we started second guessing the GF. Reviewed all possible locations for a reception and are bummed that our evening would end at 8:30 p.m., yet still want many traditional elements in our reception.

DF & I were talking last night and were thinking about what to do.:confused3 We want to have a meal for our guests, traditional first dances, and yet incorporate something Disney into our day.

What do y'all think of this idea (and can we do it?):

1. WP @ 2:30 make us Mr. & Mrs.:woohoo:
2. 4:30/5:30 for some kind of meal, maybe like a wine & cheese, appies or small buffet? But we're not looking to book for 4 hours, so not sure where we should/could do this and would it make us look cheap?:scared:
3. Illuminations Dessert Party. This is where we are thinking we would like to party! Would like to have music for dancing and some private party time. Is this possible?

We were going to talk to Diane tomorrow and ask these questions, but would love to hear your feedback before we call.

you could do a later ceremony time and then you can have the dessert party as you reception, they dont have to be just desserts, they can be full meals if you want.

I like your idea. Having some appetizers along with a couple of drinks would be a good way to toast to the new Mr and Mrs. I don't think it would make you look cheap by not booking 4 hours, especially if you're going to do a DP.

You could do the traditional dances after illuminations by bringing a little cd player/boombox.

I am doing the evening wedding at the WP with a dessert party for my reception. I currently have the time for the reception from 8:30-11:00p.m. It is a limited menu for hot food. I am not sure as of yet what it all includes. Also, the music is limited at any outdoor event in the park. I was told that you can't have any music that would interfere with the music in the park. You might have to wait until the park is closed to actually have a band or dj, if they even allow it. YOu might want to consider moving indoors to somewhere like AA if you want dancing.

You can push back your wedding till 5pm or 730pm...
