So, I've never done Mission Space before and thinking of trying it on our next trip but need some info first. I love roller coasters, simulators, drops, whatever. No issues w/the confined space. My only fear thats kept me from going on it, is the fact that at first people were getting sick and I did not want to ruin my day feeling sick from the ride. But now that theres the less intense version, I figured I could start with that. Is it sort of like star tours, but w/the screen closer to you? It does actually spin around like the 1st version right? If its just a simulator, I'm sure I'll have no problem and can try it. Thanks!

1- at first people were getting sick and I did not want to ruin my day feeling sick from the ride. But

2- now that theres the less intense version, I figured I could start with that.

3- Is it sort of like star tours, but w/the screen closer to you?

4- It does actually spin around like the 1st version right?

5- If its just a simulator, I'm sure I'll have no problem and can try it.

1- Hundreds of thousands had ridden/are riding the full intensity version without feeling ill.

2- That's a good plan.

3- Similar.

4- No. There is no "centrifugal" spinning on the less intense version, so there is no increased gravitational pull.

5- On the less intense version, the capsule ROCKS/TILTS in sync with the video on the screen.

I don't think starting with the Green (less intense) version will prepare you for the feelings you get on on Orange (more intense). My understanding is that there is no spinning on Green. The two versions are the same otherwise, so you would be able to familiarize yourself with the small space and the screen images. You get the directional movement on Green, but not the G-forces. If simulators and enclosed spaces don't bother you, then I wouldn't waste my time on Green.

It's very difficult to predict how people will react to MS Orange because almost no one has ever been on anything that creates the same feelings (except maybe astronauts and people who have been to Space Camp).

A lot of people talk about the spinning, and while that is technically what creates the G-forces, you aren't actually aware you're spinning. It's nothing like the Teacups. You don't feel that wind and it doesn't seem like you're spinning because you're inside a closed space and it's spinning incredibly fast, so you don't get that sideways movement, just the centrifugal forces.

You feel like something in pushing you back in to the seat and it's difficult to move. It's a very cool feeling unlike anything else.

My advice for first time MS candidates is to do it later in the day. That way if you do feel icky afterward, you can go back to your hotel and haven't lost the whole day.

I resisted Mission Space for a long time....but eventually tried it because I couldn't let my 6 yr old go without me! Ofcourse he had to do the more intense version...I always get the colors confused. Anyway, I really couldn't figure out what all the hubbub was about...it was really nothing to me. Now the teacups??? No way baby!! That and the carrousel are the most terrifying rides at WDW, imho.
