Need magic bands for ME/bag check in?

My brother will be traveling to Orlando from another state than we live in and meeting us at our hotel (POR). He is currently in transition job wise and will likely be moving in the near future, so I planned on just having his magic band shipped to us and we will get it to him once he arrives. Will he need his magic band to either check his bags at his home airport (so they can be sent direct to the hotel) or to board the Magical express from the airport to POR? Thanks!

He will need the Magical Express tags, ideally. His home airport won't know what to do with Magic Bands, though. If he does not have the tag, he will need to provide the desk with his bag check tickets or fetch his own bags at luggage claim.

He can use Magical Express if booked, without a MB. Foreign nationals can't get magic bands shipped and do it.

All of us non-American's do not get our magic bands until we arrive at our resort so do everything with ME without magic bands. All that's really needed is a reservation at a resort. Paper work showing the reservation never hurts but is not required either as long as they can locate your reservation on their computer. I'd suggest he pick up his own bags and take them to the bus. They'll put them underneath the bus and he'll get them immediately at the resort. He'll be absolutely fine without his MB.

Your home airport has nothing to do with your luggage going directly to the hotel. You don't even tell them about it.
What does initiate the luggage transfer is the yellow tag. Bags with the yellow tags are pulled from the plane by DME workers and sent on a truck to the resort. They never even make the baggage carousel at MCO
