we leave for wdw in 6 days, we are now thinking about going to universal for a day. We will have no rental car at all(no credit card, just debit/credit card from checking account). We are thinking of doing universal for 1 day since we will be in wdw for 12 days.

I need help!

what is the best and way to get there, do they have any shuttle, or do we have to take a taxi or ?? what would prices be, all this is for 2 adults.

What would ticket prices be? would be looking for 2 adult 1 day tickets, probably park hoppers to visit islands of adventure as well. Is it cheaper to order online but can they be picked up at will call since we leave in 6 days, or can we buy while there and are there any discounts at all, i know we have AAA. In disney, we are ap and dvc owners, but im sure that wont help there.

What is the total approx cost to go for one day, or is it just me sensible to just stay in wdw the entire time?

thank you for any help.

There was another thread on this topic just a couple weeks ago. I would link but I am on an iPad - on the disboards search "To Universal or Not to Universal?" - that was the name of thread.

While there was varying opinion some of the main questions that were common thought the thread were:

how much do people in your party enjoy more thrilling attractions? A lot of people think Universal offers more thrill rides than WDW
Are any of the people in your party big Harry Potter fans? If so, this could make Universal a must do for you
What are the ages of the children in our party if any? Many people thought Universal was geared more towards Tweens, teens and adults especially because so many of the rides there have height restrictions

The thread offered a lot of feedback based on those three questions as well as an explanation on how the op of that thread was planning to get to US/IOA and how much she calculated coat for a family of four.

I should add, DH and I just got back from our vacation two weeks ago. We did nine nights at WDW and two at Us/IOA. We drove to Florida so transportation was easy for us. We bought our tickets directly from Universal, but paid in advance because I think you get a slight discount for buying early rather than at the gate. We are just 2 adults (sorry missed that you said that in your original post). We very much enjoyed some of the rides - three of our favorite rides across all theme parks are Revenge of the Mummy, Men in Black, and Spiderman. Even though those are close to top of our list ride-wise, we still overall prefer the resort experience at WDWand overall prefer the parks better there too. We did enjoy WWOHP (as you can see by our dog names in my signature, we are big HP fans) and enjoyed shopping for Simpsons (DH) and HP (me) merchandise. I don't think we would consider going without a car and without staying on property (unlimited Express for all days of your stay including check in and check out as well as an easy walk from the hotel to the parks). For us, I think it would be too much work (and "pressure" to see everything) for just one day, but that's just us, we are the type of people that wouldn't plan a split stay at WDW because we like to settle in at a place so a lot is a personal preference too.

As much as I hate to say this...if you are only going for a single day, stay at Disney. Theme parks (Universal and Disney) do not offer discounts for single day admissions so the Universal portion will be very expensive. I would suggest visiting Universal when you are willing to spend more than a single day...two days minimum to do both parks...plus tickets are a little more reasonable.

Single day park hoppers are $128 per person plus tax. You might be able to find them a little less expensive through Undercover Tourist but you would only be saving a few dollars per ticket. Buying through the Universal website is less expensive than buying at the gate unless you have an annual pass or are a FL resident.

We ordered tickets from USSSA on 9/18, and received them on 9/24, so yes, I think that would be too tight for the OP.

So is it safe to say that if I order tickets from USSSA on today or Monday I should have them in my hand if we decide to do a quick trip to Universal on Oct 10-13 ??
