Need laundry/cleaning info for the Dolphin

Well, DH doesn't think we can make it through a week in the summer without doing laundry. Actually he just wants to wear his favorite shorts multiple times. I went to the store to try to buy another pair of the same ones, but there were no more. So I MAY have to do laundry on vacation

I would really appreciate any current info on pricing, hours, cycle time and availability of detergent products. Also any experience with crowds and wait times would be great.

Finally, anyone know the pricing and turnaround time of using the dry cleaning service offered by the hotel? It may be worthwhile if I only have a few "must clean" items.

We have stayed at the Dolphin many times and every time I have used the laundry room.

I don't remember the pricing but the Dolphin has a fairly large, very clean laundry room right next to the game room and convenient to the pool area. I always end up doing laundry toward the middle of a vacation so we plan a pool / laundry break day.

Take your own detergent and fabric softener. Those are available but, well, you are at Disney World.

The laundry is in the ground flour level of the Dolphin. We had to hunt it out but follow the signs for the spa (it's next to that) or the game room (on the other side).

I can't remember prices either but it's not that bad (less than $10 for sure). But, the Disney dryers are really bad so expect at least two cycles for that (or air dry in your room after the first cycle which is what we did).

We did our laundry around 1:00 in the afternoon and planned to spend some time at the pool. No one was in there. I don't even think anyone even walked by the place. We sat out at the pool, went into the hot tub, had a beer, and checked on the progress every half hour or so. No big deal.

BTW - if your husband is the one that wants to wear his shorts multiple times, let him do the laundry!!! You go to the spa.

Bold is mine but just FYI the spa has moved up to the lobby level so the laundry is between the game room and the kids club on the way out to the pool.

If you have a car, take your laundry to the wash & fold place in the strip mall where steak & shake is located on Apopka Vineland about 5 minutes from Disney. We have been using them from at least 10 years. You drop off your clothing one day and pick it up the next. On long trips, we use them twice, once in the middle and then at the end. It is wonderful going home with clean clothes instead of piles of dirty clothes. We go in the winter and have heavy jeans, sweatshirts, etc and never pay more than $20 to $25. They charge by the pound and I think the minimum is 10 pounds. I highly recommend them. PS: There is a great Mexican restaurant in the strip mall where we have lunch or dinner when we drop off or pick up the laundry.
