Merry Christmas everyone!

I bought my husband an iPad Christmas, and although we don't consider ourselves complete gadget geeks, we thought we'd know enough to figure this out. LOL!!

When we initially turn the iPad on, the only thing that shows up on the screen is a picture of the USB cable with an arrow to Itunes. So we figrure that it's looking for us to sync it with our itunes (my husband already has an account).

So, we connect the iPad to the computer with is USB cable. Itunes immediately comes up on our home computer and then nothing. No acknowledgement of a new device, nothing. The ipad is still showing the usb cable and the itunes logo. It made a beep sound, like acknowleging that it's hooked up, but nothing.

Of course, no one is available with apple today.

I hope this post is understandable. I fully admit that I'm just plain exhausted today! I was really, really hoping my husband would be able to enjoy his gift today.

Any help?? Many thanks everyone!!

Same thing happened to us. You just need to update your itunes account. Merry Christmas!

Yes, update the iTunes on your computer and then make sure iTunes is open when you plug in the iPad.

Help I Pad experts! My dh got me one today. I can access my fb account, but can't play games. It say Adobe flash doesn't work with Apple products. Is there any way to play my fb games?

No - the iPad can't do Flash, so any of the games written in Flash won't work (yet - I've heard rumors about the future). Some of them may have versions for the iPad, though. :confused3

You need to get an app called skyfire which will do flash for you.:thumbsup2

Probably not official by Apple.... here is a letter from Steve Jobs about whether Flash will ever becoming to an iOS based mobile device:

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/

excerpt:

Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short.

The avalanche of media outlets offering their content for Apple’s mobile devices demonstrates that Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content. And the 250,000 apps on Apple’s App Store proves that Flash isn’t necessary for tens of thousands of developers to create graphically rich applications, including games.

New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.
