Need information on Paradise Beach....

First cruise ever..... so excited!
I dont want to go with a paid tour, and I would like to go out on my own..... if you can give me any information about how much a taxi would cost from the port to any public beach on Paradise Island, and where it is located, preferably with other people so we dont feel so isolated. What time do you have to be back at the ship? Any information is greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about Paradise Beach in Cozumel or Paradise Isand in the Bahamas??

You can go out to paradise island by taxi or water taxi. It's been four years since my DW and I went out there but it seems from these boards that the taxi is about $4 per person each way, (+$1 for the bridge toll) and the water taxi is about the same amount. Have the taxi drop you off at the Sheraton hotel. There is a public beach access there. There aren't any changing areas or public restrooms if I recall. You can buy food and drinks from the Sheraton.

You can check your itinerary to see when the boat leaves, but I think mostly they stay until 11:00 PM so you'll be back with plenty of time.

Another GREAT option is taking a taxi to Cable Beach. The driver will take you to a resort called the Crystal Palace. You are allowed to use their facilities free of charge. There is a casino there and a beautiful beach with tiki huts and loungers. Motorized watersports are available at an extra charge. There is also a large pool with a swim up bar and water slide. We enjoyed the day sitting under our tiki hut sipping tropical drinks out of coconuts (they sold them at a stand on the beach). My kids played ping pong, swam, rode the boats and we spent hardly any money at all. The cab ride was $5.00 pp. and you can bring sandwiches (from room service) right to the beach with you.
