Need info on the "other" Yacht Club Restaurant

I now there are 2 restaurants at the YC and one is the Yachtsmen steak house. I thought the other was the Yacht Club Gallery (or something like that) but I see on ALLEARS they have it listed under another name.

Does anyone know the correct name of the restaurant? Also any reviews or comments about it.

I'm staying a BWV and am looking for something in the area. Believe it or not I'm thinking of changing my Flying Fish ressie for another restaurant. I know Fling Fish is supposed to be great and it looks yummy, but after some thought I'm not sure if we'll be in the mood to get "dressed up" for this restaurant.

We're going the 1st week of Sept. and I know it will be hot. And I don't think DH would want to change from shorts to pants to go to dinner - especially since we'll probably do some more things after dinner. I know we can proably dress a bit more casual, but I think it's only right to dress properly for the signature restaurants - it's part of the experience for everyone.
So this time around we're opting for comfort and are considering going to another restaurant in the area.

Thanks...

I think you are looking for the Captain's Grille, off the main lobby. I ate there in May and it was very good. I had a lettuce wedge salad and prime rib. The kid's meal are the usual combos or limited choice of appetizer, entree and dessert. They also have the cute Tinkerbell/Hook light up clips on the drinks.

HTH,
Diana

Thanks Diana - that's the name on allears as well - I'll check out menu - just wanted to be sure to when I call reservations I have the right name - also thinking of Spoodles or possibly Chefs De France...

I don't think you have to dress up too much for Flying Fish. I went in Lady Dockers and a polo shirt the last time we went.

Have they upgraded their dress code? This is a great place to eat. I really like the interior - very colorful.

Actually they may have downgraded their dress code since the last time you were there. Signature restaurants at disney basically only prohibit tank tops (not camis), ripped/torn clothing, swimsuits, beach flip flops, mens hats. Sandals, shorts and a tee (without graphic or offensive language/designs), jeans, sneakers and a polo, dresses/suits are all part of the range of acceptable clothing.

My concern with Flyhing Fish is wearing shorts. I know the signature restaurants tend to have a "better" dress code- most people don't come wearing the clothes they wear in the parks - which I totally understand.

And I know DH will want to wear shorts especially in Sept. heat. It sounds like a great restaurant, but we are able to get good seafood where we live and there are plenty of other nice restaurants to choose from which aren't signature, so I figure why not make the change.

we always wear shorts to the signatures - you couldn't pay my family to wear pants in the florida heat. There will be many other patrons in shorts as well. Genarally we stick to khaki shorts and polos for the guys (which is what they tend to prefer for park wear as well). And shorts are definitely PERMITTED under disney's business casual dress code - remember disney business casual is not the same as business casual elsewhere.

Thanks for the info on the dress code - gives us something to think about. It's just that I remember readiong a thread here on how some people notice that others aren't dressed as nicely for signature restaurants. Albert & Victoria's is one thing, but it's nice to know we can wear shorts to Flying Fish and not feel out of place.

When I booked Flying Fish, the CM read off the "dress code" to me, and just mentioned - no swimwear, no cutoffs, no torn clothes, and (I think) no flip-flops.

I assumed anything else was OK.

I think many of those complaints come from people not realizing what the actual dress code states. They hear business casual and think about what it means at home - for me, certainly not shorts and tee shirts. The dress code used to require collared shirts for men and dress type shorts, so people may also be thinking about the older dress code which was more strict. Also, you may end up in a restaurant on the night of someone's wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, or even just a special event like an anniversary or perhaps soem conference attendees at a business dinner where people tend to dress up more than your average vacationer. My DH in a polo and khaki shorts looks quite underdressed next to the guy in a suit or a tux, but both are dressed appropriately for the restaurant. We've never felt funny about not being as dressed up as a few of the other patrons.

We ate at the Captains Grill in April and loved it, tons of pics and reviews in my signature

Captain's Grill was until recently called the Yacht Club Galley. The name was changed this year. Planning books and websites may not have the latest name.
