Need info on smoking at SOG

I understand this is a nonsmoking resort. Thats fine, but does anyone have any experance with smoking outside on your patio. Are they going to get upset if I'm smoking on the property (not in the room )? Any info would be wonderful. Thanks Tina

DH smokes on the balcony and/or patio at SOG. I believe I've seen people smoke at at poolside, too.

I'm unsure of the answer; however, I can tell you that the bottom of my reservation confirmation says:

"Shades of Green is a smoke-free resort."

There are ashtrays on every balcony at SOG. There are also ashtrays near the pool areas - and there are these little 'receptacles' for butts along all of the walkways. I thought it was going to be completely smoke free - none of us smoke, so we were kind of happy. Had a horrible situation at POR a year and a half ago...and dd12 has asthma. Anyway, no problems at SOG.

Hmm... that's interesting! I've never had a problem there so it's not a huge deal, but I wonder what exactly "smoke free" means? No smoking indoors perhaps? I can't imagine that an entire resort - especially a military resort - could prohibit smoking anywhere on the grounds!

It must be that 'smoke free' means just indoors. Literally my DD12 walked onto the balcony and said, "oooooo someone brought an ashtray!" Then she noticed that they were on every balcony. When we saw them by the pool and walkway, we knew we must have been mistaken in our thinking.

Thanks for the info. I bring a small coffee tin for my butts. And I don't smoke inside anyways. So outside is fine. Tina
