need info on Nick hotel

The best rate I found is the "Corporate" rate, since I work for UPS @ $115, then $197 for the weekend, then up to $184 on Monday Feb 17-22. Better than AAA rates. - Has anyone tried the rooms with the whirlpools? - Is it worth the extra $27 a night?

Yikes! I went online and logged into the Priority Club. Even with the Priority club membership, rates for this summer (end of July) was $190 and up for the rooms with the kitchenette (not full kitchen). We sure won't be staying there for that kind of money, but I do think I'll check into doing the character breakfast. Anyone know whether you have to be a guest there to book this?

To Deelam: Don't know if you've stayed onsite at the Universal hotels before, but we were at Royal Pacific in summer of '03 and I have to say front of the line access (Express Pass) is the most wonderful thing in the world! In fact, my family is afraid we'll be disappointed in our WDW trip this summer because we'll be hating waiting in lines when we know over at US & IOA you can get on the rides so quickly! Anyway, if it was a choice between these hotels for the same $$$ I think I'd be booking the Royal Pacific! It's really a beautiful place. And it looks like you have a DCL booking? That's how we did Universal----we had spent a week on the Magic and finished with a day at USF and 1 nite at Royal Pacific. Enjoy your cruise!!!!

We stayed there two years ago during the conversion and i was not impressed. The food was lousy and the pools were ice cold. However, i hear they are doing a much better job since the official opening. The prices are usually around $199 so i don't think you are doing too badly.

I plan to stay maybe 2 nigts here in October. I want to do this before my oldest is too big to really enjoy the hotel.

WHat would be a good location to ask for to be near all the action?

I dont know if i will stay there but i think my kids would love the character breakfast there! Spongebob Patrick Dora nad Boots! The kids will be in heaven.
FYI. The character meals are only for onsite guests.

No - this hotel is located on International Drive SOUTH. Right near the corner of SR535 and SR536 ~ literally minutes from Disney. You are about 5 minutes to DTD and around the corner from the Buena Vista Outlet Mall.
Great location! :flower1:

Actually this hotel is on Continental Gateway on the corner of I-Drive and across from the Marriott World Hotel and minutes from DTD. It is a great hotel, the kids will love it. We have stayed there twice - a week each and had a fantastic time. I do however think that the changes they are making by adding the resort fee and lowering the kids eat free age and general menu changes are definitely going to hurt them. In addition to those changes, they have increased their price quite a bit. I probably won't stay there again because of it. They also seemed to have a problem with people throwing up in the pool last time we were there. It happened almost nightly! Go figure. Then the pool had to close and the fun was done for the night unless you had show tickets. My kids like to swim until the pool closed at 11PM. All in all, you will like it, your kids will love it. The rooms are not huge but ample, the themes are great. All the construction was done almost 2 years ago now so it is up and running and there is no construction going on at the hotel.

My oldest is now 15 and has a ball in the water park every time we have been there. There is water buckets and big slides, basket ball, pool and a mini golf course to keep him busy.

If you want to be near the big water tower (and the other things I mentioned), request a room on the lagoon side. The other side also has some slides and a good pool but the tower you see in the commercials is on the lagoon side. You can request pool view, but I think they charge another $20 per night for that. We stayed in bldg 13 or 14 on the upper floors (either 4 or 5) each time so we could see the fireworks from Disney at night and you can also see DTD. It makes you feel like you are still in the thick of the magic. We could see Wishes and Fantasmic at the same time, it was cool.

We plan to go Halloween week. How is the weather that time of year? Do you think it will be warm enough for a waterpark type hotel?

We are planning to do a few days at the Nick hotel before going to Disney. Our plan will be to just stay at the hotel. No parks at all. Do you think there is enough to keep the kids interested at the hotel all day/night. I figured for the high prices there would be allot to do. And I'm hoping they have something planned for the Saturday before Halloween.

Speaking of high prices, are they likely to have deals for the weekend before Halloween?

They should have some deals by then once the summer season slows down. Remember just about anything you want to do at the hotel other than just sit at the pool pretty much costs money. The crafts, spa, any of the character parties all cost money. I am not sure how much since I know each of the crafts are different prices. Just keep that in mind if you plan on doing those things, you need to budget for them.

Everything cost money now days. And I'm not surprised that even after paying $$$ for the hotel, I expect to pay even more to do things there. For Me, I would rather spend the money on a really nice resort. But this is for the kids. Do you think there will be enough to keep them busy. Or should I plan a Sea World visit to break up the day?

I checked their website and it's saying $350 a night for a 2bedroom suite. Is that normal and if so where can i get a code? dates are 6/20 -6/22 2007

Sounds pretty normal to me - they are getting more expensive by the day. Have you tried AAA?

Just looked at AAA and they are quoting $351 or $369 for 2BR suite. And, kayak.com didn't find anything cheaper so I think you are stuck. Orbitz did show $333 per night but that was the best I could find - must be busy then.

Oh, and of course you realize that at $350, it is WAY cheaper than any 2 BR unit at WDW.

Is there a mousesavers discount for this hotel. I thought there was but can't find this hotel on the mousesavers site.

When should I book for the weekend before Halloween. Is it best to book now at the high rate of $259 per night (spongebob suite). Or wait for a deal? I really would be happy with anyroom, so maybe I can get it down to $229.

After looking at the nick hotel website, I notice a promo of "stay 2 nights on your birthday, get your birthday night free. So you would have to stay 3 nights. This would mean extending my vacation a bit. But that isn't a bad deal. It is code IDOTHBDA (a public code posted on their site). It will be my birthday when we are at the Nick hotel. I may book it just to make sure I have a room.

If you book now, as long as your rate is not advance purchase, you can always get the lower rate when and if it comes out. I have done that several times per visit when I booked high and the prices kept falling. You (depending on the day you are there) may be able to get this hotel as low as $125/night during that time frame. Sometimes, they advertise that. There was a link on mousesavers but that isn't a constant and is sometimes not available. You could call and ask them if they have a mousesavers rate though and they will tell you. Also, if you have been there before, they give you a discounted (blast back) rate. Just make sure if you book now, you can cancel at any time and you aren't paying in advance. Once you pay, you are stuck!

I called the Nick hotel. The birthday special where you get a free night when you pay for 2 only applies if the birthday is for a child under 12. At least I tried.
The CS rep did say that the promo's for October are not out yet.

I would think that they would have a promotion for October. We were there last October and they had a special rate on the rooms and stay 2 nights get the third night free so we ended up paying $300 for 3 nights. Fortunately they were running that same special about 1 month ago and we were also able to book for that same rate for Memorial weekend.. I was so glad but my kids really enjoyed staying there..

may 12-may16, they have something called 3 day best rate, it was a better rate than on the website, plus of course the 20$ fee daily, doesn't hurt to call, she was very nice and spent alot of time/me
