My husband and 9 year old son want to do this dolphin encounter at Nassua. Me and my 2 year old would like to go but not do the encounter.

First how is the Dolphin encounter? Is it worth the $$$?

And if I schedule the Dolphin entcounter for them and the blue lagoon for me and my 2 year, will we be able to meet up? Also, can I bring a stroller to the blue lagoon?

I'm really torn on what to do with the 2 year old. I was even thinking of just taking a short tour of the straw market and hanging out of the ship with him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicaited. We have never been on a cruise before.

We did the Blue Lagoon thing a few years ago, and included the Dolphin Encounter. It was a week after a hurricane came through the area and there were still trees down and some debris scattered, although they were definitely working on cleaning it up.

We took a large boat (I guess a ferry) from the dock to a separate island for this. I don't think a stroller would be a problem. When we docked at Blue Lagoon, some people went only to the beach, while some did the beach and the encounter, so your family should have no trouble meeting up.

There was a pretty, sheltered beach area with lots of shallow water, would think it was a good place for a toddler. There were few, if any, fish in the water, but that may have been because of the recent hurricane. There were several hammocks hanging in the trees, and I had a short nap! The excursion included lunch, which was good, local food.

The Dolphin Encounter was a short walk from the beach. There were a few people in a different area actually swimming with the dolphins, but that was a separate, more expensive program. Some people who signed up for the Encounter had not understood that they wouldn't be swimming with them, and were disappointed. I can't remember whether they were offered refunds. I do remember that all the swim slots were already booked, so they couldn't change activities.

The Encounter took place in a deep tank with an underwater platform on one side. We stood on this in water a few feet deep and watched the dolphin swim and do some tricks. Then the trainer had it come up to each individual for petting, shaking fins, kisses, feeding, etc. I thought it was worth doing once, but wouldn't pay to do it again.
