Has anyone stayed at the Carousel Inn, specifically in the View Room? I'd like to find out the layout, to determine if it would be suitable for 4 adults 1 child (grandparents, parents & 5-year old). Also, can you really see the fireworks from the living room?

Thanks for any help.

I was also looking to book the Carousel as well for our trip to DL in Feb/09. However, based on the bad reviews on Trip Advisor lately, and there was a thread here about a week ago that was pulled because it was such a hot topic. Someone had a pile of personal things stolen from their room, and it wasn't till they complained to the management that it all magically reappeared.:stir: :stir: :stir: I would say that the Fairfield Inn, and the Howard Johnsons are much better hotels based on all the research I've been doing over the past months (I'm a severe overplanner!). Even though the Carousel is closer to DL, the other hotels mentioned are much better for the price you are paying, even though they are about a 7 to 10 min walk from DL. And the HOJO's is a favourite of the DISer's on this forum.

as above stated that post got heated but my view i will never stay there now. go to desert inn or hojo much better in my oppinion

I was there for a day, and while I didn't experience what the previous poster mentioned when they mentioned the deleted post, the LACK of caring about guests was pretty evident. They were just totally neutral; my smoke detector went off at midnight, thanks to a steamy shower, and I had to call them, instead of them coming up to see what was wrong. They *said* they were worried b/c that day a hotel in Vegas had caught on fire, but they didn't call to see what was wrong, or come up to help me turn it off. It was weird.

I imagine you could indeed see the fireworks from that room.

But in case you don't know, the biggest part of the fireworks is being in the park, listening to the soundtrack and knowing what's going on. We watched part of the fireworks as we walked back to HoJo from Mimi's restaurant, and we knew what was going on (we caught the pirate battle part) but someone else wouldn't know. It's still spectacular to the eyes, but might not be stirring to the heart like it can be when you're there in the park watching.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping to find out if that room would be suitable for us (based on layout) before proceeding with my normal check on reviews of the hotel in general, LOL. Thought it might save me a bit of time, if I had to rule it out as unsuitable anyway, then I wouldn't need to bother with checking reviews and could go on to the next candidate, LOL.

I always check reviews from several sources, and try to look at the overall totals of good vs. bad - occasionally things happen for a person to have the stay from H*ll even at the very best of hotels, so I try not to judge by one review, no matter how bad (or good). Thanks for the tip to check back on those bad reviews.

As for the fireworks, I would never miss seeing them in the park at least one night, but it's nice if they could be seen from the room on any night the yung 'un needed to get to bed a bit early in order to survive, or if this old gramma gave out early or took a break, LOL.

So if anyone else sees ths and has stayed in that room, I'd still be interested in the layout...

Thanks to everyone.

well me personaly i have heard more then one bad review on it. last year when looking where to stay we ended up at camolot becouse we had already read so mnay bad about Carousel and both decied not to even take a chance

I will be staying there next week in a club suite & will let you know how it goes when we get back. There are 4 adults in our party. I have heard both good & bad reviews for this hotel as well as good and bad at the Hojos although we have never had a bad stay at Hojos. As with all things each person has a different experience but I will let you know how our stay was.

We stay next door at the Tropicana, and like it. Between all the bad reviews, and them not having a hot tub (with just a smal roof pool at that) we don't plan on ever staying at the Carousel.

We stayed at the Camelot in a one bedroom suite. It worked great for us! We were 2 adults, 2 teens and 3 kids. There was a king bed and sofa bed in the main room and 2 queens in the bedroom. It's a basic hotel but we spent very little time in there so it didn't matter. The free breakfast wasn't much but McDonalds was next door so we did that a few mornings.

We are still considering the Carousel for next year, all I will say is there are two sides to every story and the thread was not pulled at the request of Carousel, infact it was pulled before they even got to see it.

Having said that there does appear to be a Management change since we stayed there in 2006 and hotels can change so we are by no means certain we will stay there.

The View suites certainly have a good view of the fireworks, I am not certain of the layout but I did read somewhere they only have one bathroom which could be a bit limiting with a big group.
