So, my DS who is 6 is sooooo easy to buy for and I pretty much have his gifts bought. I'm at the point where I am trying to "even out" his presents with his big brother who is 9. I'm having trouble trying to come up with great inexpensive ideas for him.....any ideas???? He loves the DS, the Wii, Star Wars, and Legos........but all of that is already covered. I need "different" ideas........HELP!?!?!!!?!?!?!

Do you mean stocking stuffers? If so for my 9 you we're getting:

Legos - Target has some cheap little sets (under $5) in the stocking stuffer section.

A headlamp - great for flashlight tag. - Lowe's has them for under $20 for an LED one with both Red (night vision) and white bulbs.

non stocking stuffers:

Nerf Long Sword - $20

TRU has DS games two for $40 this week.

A board Game - my kids wanted Sorry Sliders and Mouse Trap

Some Walkie Talkies - Target has some Motorola ones for under $20 - these are not in the toy section but with the electronics. And unlike the ones in the toy section they really do work. We have them for when we go camping and the kids want to wander off on their own.

Thanks for the ideas...especially the walkie talkies.

Anyone else?

I just bought my ds8 the pirates mix max that buy.com has today for 19.99 shipped.

bed bath and beyond has a marshmallow shooter gun for $14. Boys seem to love them.

This coming Sunday ad for Walmart will have Star Wars Figures (guys) for $6. I also think it's coupons.com that has the $5 off Start Wars Toys coupon when you buy $20 worth.

a snowball maker kit

books

movie

Some kind of food he loves but rarely gets -or always has to share

Bought my DS (8) several Phineas & Ferb/Johnny test DVD's from Amazon ($7 each) and several Phineas & Ferb books ($5 each and buy 3 get 4th free!)

So for $36 (free shipping on amazon over $25) I got 3 movies and 4 books...and Phineas & Ferb/Johnny Test is popular in my house :-)

Learning Express has decorate your own soccer and football for $20. I actually got a soccer ball for my DD as well.

Tech Decks and Trix Flix are under $10 each.

They have some pretty cool DS covers that help protect them! I love having a cover for my DS, I dunno what I would do without it. Is he into building models? You can get some easier models for 5-10 each, if I recall correctly. I agree with getting him something he would normally have to share, if there's a type of snack food he loves but doesn't get on a regular basis get that for him too. A completely free gift could be some coupons to get out of X chore for one day, my parents did these all the time when I was a kid. Maybe a coupon for a day at a museum or aquarium with just mom or dad (or both!).

Maybe an age appropriate book about something he has expressed an interest in. It might spark an interest for a future hobby like sailing, fishing, cooking, muscle cars, lol .
Matchbox cars.
Small chess set

My guy willl be 9 in May. I found a Star Wars Clone Wars drawing book and Star Wars Legos Visual dictionary on amazon.com

He's also getting a zhu zhu pet , I got him one of those snap circuits kits some wii and ds games at costco (Lego Battles and Indiana Jones both under $20)

A mini remote control Yoshi car (from Mario Kart) this was $20 at Target...

He is getting some other things as well, this was just some of the smaller things I found.

My DD12 still loves playing with the set of walkie talkies we bought them years ago. Also not the toy ones, but the ones in camping/electronics.

Neft basketball for over his bedroom door? Nerf target and darts?

Poster/cap from favorite baseball/basketball/football team? For years my Texas-born
son wanted Philadelphia Eagles stuff - caps, bedspread, poster, etc. Not sure where that came from! :-)

What about a frisbee? Do you have a disc golf course near you? Some discs for that, or a new basketball?

Board games...

My son wanted Sorry Sliders. I also got him a chess set, Simpsons Life, and Connect 4x4 games. The boxes are a good size :thumbsup2 It will make up for the "small looking" video games that are $50!!!
