Hello,

Two years ago we were in Disney for my daughter's birthday and on her birthday we went to the boutique and had her hair and nails done, then dinner at Cindy's table and ended the evening with Mikey's Christmas party tickets. Girls are easy when they are still into the whole princess thing! This Aug. we are heading down for my son's birthday and I'm at a loss. He wants to go to the Crystal Palace for his birthday dinner - got that - but what else can I do to make it a very special day for him? I don't think dressing like a pirate is his thing and I don't want to send him off on a pirate cruise with his sister and not be together as a family on his birthday. He is not a cake boy so the cupcake they give him at dinner is more than enough for him. I'm at a loss! We will be at Beach Club.

Any suggestions? It's his 7th birthday.

Thanks!

Does he like ice cream? Since he's not a cake boy, what about taking him to Beaches and Cream for the Kitchen Sink?

Would he enjoy Disney Quest? Cirque de Soliel? Maybe the steam train tour?

Oops! Nevermind on the steam train tour. I just looked it up and you have to be 10 yo to do that one. I didn't think there was a minimum age for it.

Not sure if you mean only in "the" parks, but is he into race cars? Also, not sure of the age/height requirement, but what about the race track?(the real one, not the one in MK.
Typhoon Lagoon has swimming with sharks, again check with the website for restrictions on age, etc.
I think they are opening build your own car store with the RIDEMAKERZ store. I'm not sure if they are opening one, and if so if it will be open by your trip. But from the sounds of it, it may be just what you are looking for. I checked the RIDEMAKERZ website and it does not list FLA as one of their locations, but you may want to contact them and ask if it is in the works, or contact disney. I may very well be confused on this, but I thought I heard they are opening one on WDW property.

Also, my kids loved getting temporary tattoos and face painting as a super hero may be good.

Main Street Barber shop is awesome too. a punked out hair style with colored gel and some mickey head?!

Good Luck!

My kids loved DisneyQuest. My DD was 8 the last time we went and spent hours in there with DH.

Balloon ride?

Is there a gift that he really wants? You could make a "scavenger hunt" around the park.....he gets his birthday present at the end of the hunt. I read something like this on a Disney website. The person hired a company to leave messages for her mom but if I were doing it for my child, I'd make up cards with hints to attractions or places and then give him the next card when he gets us there, maybe with a reward token of some kind with each hint completed. Some hints could actually be "jobs" he has to do or something he has to get (like, a picture of a person wearing red crocs). ;)
