Last night I got a call from the woman who is chaperoning my son and his friends on his band trip. This woman is great; she's always helping out. Frankly, I feel a little guilty because I'm flying to Orlando (the kids are taking a bus from n. suburban Chicago), staying in the Wilderness Lodge and just being a spectator when the kids perform in the parade. She's getting on a bus at 10 a.m. the day after Christmas and is being dropped off at Epcot at Noon on the 27th. After 3 days at Disney, they're going on to the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.

I want to do something nice for her. I thought about putting together a gift basket with things to make her trip a little easier (if easy is possible riding a bus with 55 high school students). When I was at Ulta this weekend I saw some tired foot and leg lotion in little packets--I thought I'd get some of those. I was thinking of adding a package of tea that's supposed to calm you down, some tylenol. I'm looking for other ideas--I'm sure there are some out there!

Any ideas are welcome and appreciated! TIA!

What a nice idea. How about a blow up neck pillow or a couple of travel magazines? A few nice snacks or some Disney Dollars would be cool too.

I did the band mom thing some years ago on a WDW trip with Tim and 110 of his mates. We too left on the day after Christmas and rode straight through on busses, spent a few days at WDW, performed at Epcot and at the Citrus Bowl. It was a mixture of great fun and exhaustion plus a bit of sore tush combined. We met up with several parents who flew down to watch and I began to question my own sanity. But as chaperone I got to hang out with the kids and get to know lots of them.

Have fun watching the band perform. They'll have tons of fun and so will you.

Thanks! I'm glad you reminded me about the blow up neck pillow. That sounds like a good idea for the basket, but it also reminded me to send my son with a blow up pillow for the bus ride. I think he's got one with his old camping stuff.

So my list so far:

Foot and leg lotion
Tylenol
Tea (I don't know if she'll have hot water in the room, I may punt this idea)
Neck Pillow
Snacks
Travel Magazines
Disney Dollars

Any other ideas???

Lots of Liquor. (Just Kidding)
Prepaid Phone Cards
Disposable Camera for memories:wave2:

I found a unique guidebook on Amazon. It's a guide to Hidden Mickeys and is in a scavenger hunt format. Only $10. I was also going to look for some of those travel bingo cards--figure she could toss them at her charges when they started asking "are we there yet???" I'm thinking of putting it all into one of those soft sided travel coolers that hold a six pack (in our school colors, of course!)

It's a bit expensive, but how about a "Pal Mickey." I don't know anyone who has one (probably here on the boards somewhere) but they seem like fun and a great souvenier too!:earsboy:

Maybe a nice journal?
