Need ideas for something special!

My boyfriend has been really great lately. There have been a few things going on recently and he has been so sweet and patient with me. I want to do something special for him to let him know I appreciate him. I am thinking of planning a surprise weekend getaway for us. I want to cook him a special dinner this weekend to tell him. Does anyone have any ideas for the trip or the dinner?
These are the only ideas I have right now. Can anyone come up with something else?

Those are great ideas. One thing I have planned, had everything in place, then had to cancel because of a work emergency but was a lot of fun, and I hope to plan it out again this year to actually do. It was going to be a scavenger hunt and at each stop (which were friends from different areas of life) he would pick up one item, and a note which would lead him to the next destination. At the end he would have all the items needed for a picnic and his last stop was going to be the park that we enjoyed the most where I would be waiting for him.
