Not sure if my title is clear or not  What I mean is we are surprising our son who will be actually almost 8 years old at the time with our WDW vacation! I want to put together a bag with Disney stuff as part of his surprise. I was thinking activities for the 12 hour drive and Disney Crocs, etc. I need more ideas though!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody do this for their son lately???

New video games, DVDS that is our #1 item we buy for long road trips. I really like your ideas. Have a great time!!

I love magnetic games for car trips also I always put togther small surprise packages, lil lunch bags with some teats and small toys. I usually take them from the bottom of the toy box and guess what they never recognize them! I also always keep a running box of great travel toys and odds and ens I pick up while Im out. Recently I picked up a great lil monster activitey kit from Wall Mart all the pieces were in the bag to make 2 monster puppets for 1.97. I am always on the look out for travel toys gook luck

Do you live near a Wal-greens? I saw a really cute candy that was like a sucker but there was a plastic airplane shaped fan on top. Fans are always a good idea at WDW. I also saw these by the cash register at our local Blockbuster video but they were a little more.

Small hand-held fans can sometimes be found in the hardware / paint area at Wal-mart. I bought mine on clearance so I don't know what they'll have right now. They might also have Disney themed t-shirts.

Your grocery store will have little gummy snacks that are Disney themed in the area near the granola bars.

Is he likely to want character autographs? A big pencil or pen is a good idea.

For the car ride - how about a Soduku (spelling?) for Kids book? My youngest is sort of a math-brain kind of kid but she loves those. Comic books?

Does your son enjoy books on tape or CD? My kids almost always listen to the Boxcar Children on any trip we take.

I did this for my then 2 1/2 year old but it would work for an 8 year old too.

I picked up some disney party favor bags and put little toys in them (kinda like the sandwich bags but opaque) When she got bored or restless I pulled one out to open. I took some into the parks with me too so she would have something to do while we did kid swaps. LOL...they even worked for some other kids that were waiting for their mom and driving their poor dad nuts. I gave them one with mini bubbles and another with pipe cleaners. They were around 5 and 8 and loved them.

Some of the bags had stickers and small kids meal toys I picked up at thrift stores..
For an older child you could put in things like small puzzle books, books to read, mini video games(like the kind they give with kids meals--other option, just buy the toys and put them in), a roll of pennies to toss into the fountains at the parks, a small personal fan, an autograph book, homemade travel games like find all the license plate(I am cheap and make as much as I can to keep down costs). Basically things they can use either at the park or in the car--HECK! you could even sneak in some education in the way of geography..LOL
