Has anyone ever been to one?

We need ideas to help make our 18 hour event a success because we not only want to raise research funds but some money for a trust fund for the 4 children of a local mom who didn't survive it.

Anyone?

I am sponsoring an eight hour fundraiser crop for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Memory of a fellow CMC and dear friend, who past away last month.

To start with, I think getting the word out that you are having a fundraising crop is important. Many people who prefer to crop at home on their own, will participate for a worthy cause.

For our crop, each person who comes will get a goody bag of product. We will also be doing raffles throughout the day of both CM products and Breast Cancer awareness items, ie mug w/ beanie bear, the pink ribbon socks, etc. I don't want to reveal too many items, one of my attendees frequents this board. We will also have new technique demonstrations.

I have found though at my regular monthly crops, people are primarily there to work on their albums and to eat. Needless to say we will have lots of chocolate. I am toying with the idea of a chocolate fountain fondue.:teeth: So give them lots of cropping space; about three to a round table, four to six to two rectangle tables put together, good food, and a little music. The group will have fun. :grouphug:

Good luck with your fundraiser. I know how much the success of our fundraising crops means to us.

I go to a crop each year for breast cancer.
First you need to contact many of the companies that produce our scrap products and raffle them off, or door prizes. People love that stuff!
If you are strictly a CM person you can use cm stuff or ask people to create CM layouts and then have a silent auction for the page kits.
You could also do a yard sale, people get rid of their old stuff and can buy at a bargin! This was fun. People bagged up things they didn't want or used and put a starting bid. people then bid through out hte day on the sign up sheet. At the end, the crop organizers get 10% or 20% what ever you decide.
Another fun thing, they created a "what can you create out of this" game. It was a tag, they added a buttons, fibers, some paper, feathers etc...You bought the little kit (for a $1 I think) Create something then it is judged by the crop attendees. The winner gets a prize and again, money has been raised for the cure!
Get the word out as much as you can. Contact your local home town papers. They may run it free. Plan well in advance put flyers out!
her crop started with about 15 ladies and it is now up to 100 croppers for a weekend!
She also has many vendors now. They pay for the space. Some will then donate 10% of their profits. She has made I think almost 30,000 for cancer!
Good luck! I hope you have a fantastic crop!

No advice. I just wanted to say Thank You for all you are doing.
I wish you were closer I would love to participate.
Deb

I just went to a breast cancer crop yesterday. Suggestions would be vendors if possible.

I would also say have a swap table and advertise it before or as people sign up. Have a table where people could put something they don't want or whatever and take an item in exchange, papers, stickers, diecuts, etc.

Have some sort of game where scrappers have to introduce themselves.

I am not sure dinner is ready I'll see if I can think of anything else.

I noticed in my LSS newsletter they have a "traveling sticker store" to bring to charity events. They bring a selection of popular products as well as advertising in their store newsletter. (of course you could do your own advertising as well) They also donate prizes for silent auctions, door prizes and other giveaways. Maybe you could contact your LSS and see if they might consider helping you out?
