DD is having a Hannah Montana birthday party two days before we leave for Disney:cool1:

During this time, I also have a fundraiser to do. My cake money is being spent on cookies for her preschool class, which have to be store-bought. I usually make her cakes anyway, but I just don't have time this year to go all out. My original plan (pre-disney) was to cutout the cake in the shape of a guitar and decorate it, but I don't have time for that now that we are doing everything else. So, I need something that I can do in half an hour or less. Ideas? Oh, and that is with a five year old and 20 month old hanging off of my leg. :rotfl:

I found a cake pan in the shape of guitar a few years ago... I think it was a Wilson cake pan.

I think I got it at Michael's or Joann's. I know it comes with the basic lines of guitar on it...other than that you would prolly have to wing it to decorate it.

I sold it in a yard sale last summer, otherwise I would send it to you...lol. I only used it one time!:lmao:

You could draw a guitar on top of a rectangle cake with frosting or even easier - you could decorate the cake by drawing music notes and stars. Hope whatever you do turns out cute for you!

Some one gave my DD4 a HM xmas ornament this year -- if you could find one of those you could frost a cake purple and place that on top? Or if there are plastic HM rings/party favors out there, you could place one of those on each cupcake...HTH!

Do you have a local cake store that sells supplies or a cake decorating store that carries the edible images? I've gotten edible images in Elmo, Mickey & the gang and other pictures for b-day cakes. If I remember correctly they cost between $5 & $10 depending on the image. I just make a cake myself and put smooth icing on it. The image is placed on top and melds itself into the icing. Looks great and the $8 is way cheaper than purchasing a decorated cake and likely less expensive than purchasing a guitar shaped cake.

I made a practice cake for my dd's Hannah Montana guitar cake (Wilton pan). We both thought it looked more like a ukulele than a guiltar. :confused3

Instead, I made two 9' square cakes....one with 3 layers and one with 2 layers. On the 3 layer, I placed a halogram picture of Hannah/Miley and piped a rope border around it. On the 2 layer, I wrote "Happy Birthday Olivia".

I made a large HM (in the Hannah Montana style) out of fondant and placed on the front side of the 3 layer. On both cakes, I made fondant musical notes, fondant stars in different sizes and used star shaped candles. Icing was white, fondant was shades of purple. I added a few Hannah picks and it looked really cute. Didn't take long at all.
