Our elementary school is having a theme basket raffle soon - each class chooses a theme and students in that class bring in 1 item to fill the basket. It is very successful.

I work in the library and would like to participate again this year. Since I have to put it together myself, our personal (DH and I) business donates $100 for me to buy something. Last year was my first year and instead of buying lots of little things, I bought a portable DVD player and DVD which was a big hit.

I'm looking for a different idea for this year. I feel like 1 big ticket item will appeal more than lots of little items. Any ideas in the $100 range? We are in a rural area (with limited internet for most), so ipods won't really work since many people can't download things easily.

Some of the popular themes include chocolate, bird watching, gardening, sports, etc. So I can't use those ideas. Help!

Sorry I have girls so my ideas are just what the girls like...

American Girl doll and clothes, QVC has a deal for the doll of the year special.

DS or any other computer games, acces

Hannah Montana anything

Scrapboking or Stamping sets

Tickets to someplace special in your area, we won some for a local animal park but may other tickets were there that night like for Hersheypark and included the meals.

Our school did this at Mayday and it was a BIG hit!

We do this at my sons' school. Besides those already mentioned, some big items that go over well are handbags, jewelry and gift cards. We did a Visa check card as a prize last year.

Home Depot gift card and a ladies' tool set.

Some of the baskets that are really popular at our fundraisers are,
Lotto basket (scratch offs)
Kids night out (Movie passes, local fast food place gift card and candy)
Nintendo DS
Family game night (board games etc..)
Mom's day out (spa or nail place gift cards)
Car wash basket
Panini press (sandwich maker) and cookbook
Waffle maker and mix, syrups ect...
Remote control boat, car etc...

Can you get a GPS for that price? Assuming this is for adults, not the kids.

I had another idea. How about a basket of those high-efficiency light bulbs with some "green" household cleaners and reusable shopping bags?

A bike. Ours got sooo many tickets-every kid wanted that bike. They are on sale this time of year too!
