We make our ADRs in a couple of weeks for our trip (July 13-23, 2010). We will be on the basic DDP. We will be staying for 10 nights. It will be DH, myself and our sons (ages 3 and 5 when we go). So far, we have 9 dinners decided. They are:

1. Chef Mickey's
2. Captain's Grille
3. Cape May Cafe
4. CRT
5. Various CS in Epcot (using our TS that day for Akershus lunch)
6. Biergarten
7. Chefs de France
8. Crystal Palace
9. Whispering Canyon Cafe

The above dinners, plus the lunch at Akershus, will take up our 10 TS credits on the DDP. Therefore, our 10th dinner will be paid for OOP. We are not looking to spend a ton of money, but not looking to necessarily to cheap either, though it would be nice to minimize cost as much as possible without sacrificing a good experience. Since this meal will be paid for OOP, I welcome any suggestions, whether they are on the dining plan or not.

We will be staying at Boardwalk Villas, we are DVC members (which means certain restaurants, though limited choices, offer discounts for dinner), and we will have a car with us. We need a restaurant that is NOT in a theme park, as we have 7-day base tickets and are not AP holders. We have all the theme park TS places we want to eat at already covered (we are also doing a lunch OOP at 50s Prime Time). We have considered either going into DTD (House of Blues was a consideration) or going to another resort restaurant. We don't want to do a signature resort restaurant just yet with the kids. We are not overly picky eaters, but we do enjoy some good food. We are somewhat adventurous but DH and I have sensitive stomachs as well (me more than him). To give you an idea, we loved the food at Boma on our last trip, but we had some pretty bad heartburn that night which was probably because we were not used to the spices, plus many of the desserts had alcohol in them. As much as we would love to go back there again, it wasn't fun being up at night with heartburn and then hitting a park in the summer heat the next day.

Any suggestions?

How about Kona at the Poly or Raglan Road at DTD?

T-Rex Cafe in DTD. My 4 year old loves this place, the food is good, is set up is like the Rainforest Cafe but with Dino's. They have a build a Dino in there similiar to build a bear. If your sons are into Dino's they will most likely love it. The prices are compareable to most other places.

Maybe do Le Cellier and Pay OOP for Crystal Palace or Biergarten? We are also suckers for Liberty Tree Tavern, with the limited choices for eating in general at MK!

The Plaza at the MK (great sandwiches, shakes and desserts and very reasonably priced) or Sci Fi at the Studios.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! We really need a restaurant that is not in a theme park. I have thought about Kona as well.

DH and I were talking about it this morning. It looks like we may end up going to The Wave and paying OOP. As of now The Wave offers 10% off for DVC members, and since the desserts there are not too appealing to us, we would skip that anyway so it would be a good place not to use a TS credit. We would go to the BW Bakery on the way back and grab something sweet if we feel we still want dessert that night.

DH also informed me that he would like me to try to get an ADR at Le Cellier, and use Biergarten as a backup if we can't get into Le Cellier. We've never eaten at Le Cellier and he would like to try it if possible. So I am first gonna try for that dinner ADR on one of our Epcot nights, then if we can't get it, we will go to Biergarten. He said it is really up to me, but he seems interested in trying Le Cellier so we will go for it and if we can get it we will try it.

So, as of now it looks like we will be trying The Wave. I have gone back and forth so many times with this that my head is spinning!

I would also suggest T-Rex at DTD. My DDs loved that place, I would think boys would be in heaven!

I second Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck express at DTD.....we always go to EoS at least once on every trip and we tried WPexpress last time and it will now be a standard for us. You might find that by the end of 10 days on the DDP you will want something that is a little lighter and EoS will fit that bill very well. The sandwiches are hot and made to order and they have great soup as well.
