We just booked our upcoming August vacation for Disneyland (8/16-8/20) and I need some hotel advice.

We need two queen beds plus a sleeper sofa within walking distance to the parks. I went ahead and booked a room at the Fairfield Anaheim, but if there is another suggestion, I'm all ears! :) I'd like to pay no more than $130.00 if at all possible. A decent pool is also a must.

Thanks a bunch!

Hampton Inn has suites, it is on Harbour, not walkable but the are on the Art line. Another good choice (IMHO) is Homewood suites also not walkable but, has its own free shuttle. At first glance it seems like more but, when you add the parking and the shuttle, plus the manager special (a light dinner M-TH) I think you save a bundle.

Good luck and have a good time.

Hey neighbor!
We too have a large family (of six). We no longer can squeeze into one room on-site so we have been looking for the same set-up. After looking and looking, we decided to try the Embassy Suites Buena Park suite. They have a dedicated shuttle that sounds quicker than the ART (15 min reported). You can get a poolside room for a little extra $$ (130?) and breakfast and shuttle is free. My mom decided to join us so we are splitting our stay with DL Hotel and getting two rooms there the week after you are going because prices go down significantly the week before Labor Day. Out in Auburn we don't start school till Tuesday after Labor Day. :earsboy:

Thank you for your responses! I will check out these hotels.

I recently spoke with someone who always stays at Embassy Suites Buena Park and just loves it. I was condsidering staying there but really had my heart set on the DLH so I decided to squeeze all 5 of us (youngest is 13) into one room there. We are also going the week before Labor Day and getting the 4th night free deal from Expedia. My son's school isn't starting until 9/13 :goodvibes

We stayed at the Fairfield in '03 and wouldn't stay there again.

BUT we love both Park Place Inn and Embassy Suites Garden Grove.

Embassy in Garden Grove is less than a mile away and the service was wonderful with large rooms and full cooked to order breakfast and "managers reception" each evening. The only drawback was having to take the shuttle back and forth.

Park Place has THE best location! The rooms are one room seperated by a half wall rather than the full seperate two rooms at Embassy. The service was great, breakfast sparse but so easy to walk back and forth.

DisnylndMom: What didn't you like about the Fairfield?

The location of the Park Place Inn seems great but the rooms look a little dated and I'm concerned about the size of the pool.

I think we've narrowed it down to a 'suite' type of hotel like Embassy Suites. It's a little more than we wanted to pay, but the 'perks' such as a nice breakfast and manager's reception help offset the increased cost.

When I stayed at the Fairfield I was really disappointed at the size of the room. They made it sound great with 2 queens and a sofabed. BUT....the sofabed turned out to be love seat size, not a full size sofa, so it can only sleep 1 person. Plus the room was really cramped since it was really a normal sized room with all this stuff squeezed in.

That's what I was afraid of - I figured they had to be cramming the stuff in there because the room looked really small.

Thanks for the heads up!

Besides the size of the rooms at Fairfield between our two rooms, for 4 days we had a broken door lock & they wanted up to go in and out of the window, a broken toliet AND a broken a/c.

Park Inn also has suites and they are walking distance. I haven't stayed there, YET. I'll be there for DL's bday though! But, I've heard nothing but good things about them!

We're staying at the Park Place next month. It came highly recommended by a friend.
