i am trying to attend a conference running from sept 22-25, arriving on sept 21 by car, traveling from LA. The conference is at the JW Marriott Grande lakes, on Central Florida Parkway. Since I am paying for the trip myself I am trying to find a nice & affordable hotel relatively near the site of the conference. The JW Marriott is over $200 a night! :scared: - Plus with the conference fees and all I'm trying to be practical yet money conscious since work won't pay for this conference or anything :sad2:

Since I am driving my car there, I can easily drive from a hotel to the conference/hotel site. I've been trying to look up hotels on google maps but since I'm not familiar with the area and get mixed reviews on several hotels - I hoped that someone could give me any advice on any hotels? Thanks so much!!!

Oh and the JW Marriott is located at 4040 Central Florida Parkway Orlando, FL 32837 I am looking to TRY and not have to travel more than a few miles or no more than 10 minutes to the Marriott. Thanks!

As part of your budget planning, I'm pretty sure that you'll have to pay to park daily at the hotel.

thanks - i didn't think about that. I did finally remember to consider resort fees for hotels. though they don't show up when making reservations unless you try several booking sites for the same hotels .... some sites show you they add a resort fee and some do not. I guess that when I make my reservation it's better to call the hotel directly and ask specifically about parking & resort fees.

You would try to find someone renting a reservation next door at Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve.

There is one auction on ebay right if you do a search for it in the travel section.

thanks - I'll look into that! Also, I've tried to research a few hotels on trip adivsor and have narrowed it down to a few places that are a few miles away. Anyone have any info on the following hotels:

(1) Hampton Inn at 8601 S. Orange Blossom Trail
(2) Clarion Inn & Suites at 9956 Hawaiin Court
(3) Rose Inn at Pointe Orlando (9000 International Drive)

Thanks for all of the help. And so far many of the hotels I have found have free parking & complimentary internet. :goodvibes

thanks again!

Haven't stayed at that particular Hampton Inn, but overall I'd make it the top choice of your list. In the past I've been able to get rooms for $55.-$60. a night at the Hampton Inn on Palm, a great deal. (hotel website, advance purchase price)

On tug (tug2.net) they have a section for last minute timeshare rentals. You might get lucky there too.
