After reading all the concierge reports on Disney resorts, the one thing that seems to come up quite often is the Mildew smell in the rooms . If this is the case, and we get a room that is less than acceptable( cleanliness and smell wise), ......what are the chances on getting moved ? Will the CM's help out ?

This is definitely a topic about which many people disagree. We stayed in the Poly concierge in Dec. of last year, and our room had a slight musty smell when we first checked in. It aired out in about 10 minutes (while I was out on the patio taking pictures of the room view), and we never noticed any odor at all for the remainder of the trip. I wouldn't describe the smell as mildewy, just a little musty (like it had not been occupied for a few weeks). It was no problem at all, and we loved the room we got! Hope this helps! Here's a link to pics of the room, so you can check it out:

I just came back from the Poly concierge in June, as much as I sniffed I DID NOT smell mold or mildew. The rooms were clean and I couldn't believe how they are kept up for being such an old hotel. I am a fuss budget when it comes to cleanliness, I take my lysol spray, sysol wipes and I am as happy as a clam. Go and have fun, I know you will.:)

If you are dissatisfied with your room, Disney will do everything in their power to move you to another room. Just speaking from personal experience, I never smelled any mildew when I was there. Also, the Poly has begun extensive renovations which should take care of any "problems" with the smell.

I didn't notice any smell in my room. I agree Disney will allow you to change rooms (or even resorts) if you're not happy. The GCH had an odor similar to a greenhouse or the Mirage.

Our room last week was absolutely spotless, mold and mildew free.

We did not stay in concierge, but our room was fantastic, no musty smells in room or hallways. I loved the Polynesian.

I vacationed at the Polynesian over Memorial Day weekend (stayed in the Tahiti building), and never noticed a problem. The room and the building in general had no musty/mildew smell at all.

I have to agree with the majority here... we just spent a week on the third floor of Rarotonga and did not notice any mildewy smells in either the room or the halls.

I do have to say that on one night and one night only, I could pick up a definite gas odor after the torches were lit.

When I stayed at the Poly last Sept., my husband smelled a mildewy smell when we checked in, while, I, on the other hand, definitely did not. It didn't bother him (he only smelled it when we got into the room on the 3rd Floor of Tokelau), and we had a wonderful stay! I think a lot has to do with how acute your sense of smell is.

We were at Poly Concierge last December--I smelled a slight musty odor when we first walked in, but no one else did. Within ten minutes I never noticed the smell again. Enjoy--we had a wonderful time there.
