HI Everyone! I am new to this site and this board but it seems like you have so much experience, I was hoping for some help! We are having our dream wedding at WDW in October 2014. We are just signing the agreement this week. Details:
Memories Collections (only one within our budget)
Wilderness Lodge 11 am ceremony
Though it is the Memories Collection wedding my dress is full length and this will be very special to us. That is why I am reaching out to you for any suggestions to make this our own...within the limitations of the package and maybe things we could do on our own throughout the day.
To day I feel a bit over whelmed, is an understatement!
Also, if you just have helpful hints navigating a wedding at WDW, I would really appreciate it!
Let the countdown begin!!!!

Hi! Congrats! I had my memories wedding 2 weeks ago at the Grand Floridian. To make ours a little more special we added an extra hour of photography, which was so fun. We also made reservations for lunch for after the ceremony/photography, and we wore our wedding attire. We ate lunch on the boardwalk and walked around there for a little while. We also ordered a cake from Disney and had a little cake cutting celebration with our 4 guests back at the hotel. The whole day was perfect!

Another thing you can do is request other songs to be played on the violin to make it your own! I wanted to have "a whole new world" from aladdin as our exit song and they were so accommodating even though it wasn't on the list of songs for the memories collection.

Thank you! That answered my questions about the extra photography.. can I ask what the price was? Great idea for the cake, do I ask my wedding planner about that or do I have to plan that with Food and Beverage? And last question, I read you could not walk around with your wedding dress on but we were hoping to have lunch somewhere on property with our parents. We are also, thinking about maybe switching to a white less formal dress and try to walk around the park as my fiance and I would love to get pics in the park on our wedding day!

I would love to hear more about your day and see pictures if you are willing share...like I said, I don't know where to start and I I know I am short on time!

You can wear your wedding dress in any of the resorts, but not in the parks.
It also can be cheaper to hire an outside photographer than pay for an extra hour (and then a again to purchase all of your photos instead of just having an album with a limited number of pics).
If you want to add a cake, you might want to check out disneytravelbabble.com - you can find all the information there!

Happy planning!!!

The extra photography through disney was $200 per hour. I had my extra hour split up - 15 minutes was used when I got there to get limo shots, and then my hour that was included in the package kicked in once we walked over to the ceremony, and after that hour was up we had the extra 45 minutes left. I highly recommend having extra photography time. I wish I had added an extra hour on before for getting ready pictures but I didn't :(. For ordering cakes there's a cake hotline that you call, and then can select which area you will be at (hotel food court or a hotel restaurant). I only have a few pictures for now since the pictures from Disney Fine Art Photography take 4-6 weeks, but I will try to upload them in a little bit! If I can't figure it out and you have Facebook my name is Lauren Pfautz - feel free to friend me!

I just got married at the wilderness lodge on 5/19. We didn't add on to the package besides upgraded the photo package (we get a non-copyrighted disk of all photos). It was perfect just the way we had it. Short & sweet ceremony. Stepped inside to cut the cake and serve to each other (we brought cake to dinner at Epcot later)...a champagne toast then onto pictures :) let me know if I can help in any way!!!

Congrats on your wedding!! I'm getting married at GF in 11 days.. we're also doing the memories package. Since I'm not having any guests at the wedding, we went with the extra hour of photography ($200) and when the photos come in we might purchase the no copyrighted disk. To make it special, I made ADR at CRT that night right before the fireworks, I also ordered a small cake from the hotline. Lurkyloo and her site is AMAZING!!! We also booked the magic kingdom photo shoot.. I've heard mixed things about it, but It's something i've always wanted so I figured why not, besides who doesn't want a photo with cinderella's castle :D

I am such a newbie but where can you book the MAGIC KINGDOM PHOTO SHOOT!!! WOW!!!

Thank you for the offer for help!! I know so little, this is a dream come true and I have such little time! I would love to do something similar with the cake. Can you tell me how you did this as the planner said she couldn't help me?!

If you are having a Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding you can do a bridal portrait shoot inside the Magic Kingdom before the park opens. Call Disney Fine Art Photography at 407-827-5099.

Thank you lurkyloo!!
When people talk about having a cake cutting ceremony, would that be something I would have in my room? Or do you know of any place in the Wildness Lodge I could have it? Our wedding will be my fiance and I and our parents. We are trying to decide between a lunch or Cake Cutting (if at all possible)? Any ideas and suggestions? Thank you!

Also...I have been reading your wedding planning journal!!! Such a beautiful wedding!!! Can YOU be my Disney wedding planner:) ? Dinner is going to be tonight:joker:

:rotfl: Glad you're enjoying it!

You can have the cake delivered to a restaurant or to your room. So you could have it delivered to lunch and cut it there. Or you could have them send it to your room and just bring it with you to Sunrise Terrace, then cut it at the table just inside the doors to the terrace. Heck, you might even be able to get Private Dining at WL to deliver it to you right there at Sunrise Terrace. I mean, there's hardly a difference between dropping it at the restaurant or upstairs at the terrace.

I don't have any particular advice - but I LOVE that you're getting married at Sunrise Terrace!! If we have a vow renewal at WDW, that's our first pick! Please post photos when it happens. :)

We just had our memories wedding and it was amazing! Our day went a little like this...
Hair and Makeup was at my room at 3:00 a.m.
Hollywood studios photoshoot
Photographer met us at 9:45 for pictures around the Grand.
Ceremony at 11, and our officiant made our ceremony very personal to us, and we also chose songs that meant something to us on the violin
Group of friends and family met afterwards at GF Cafe, and we had lunch and a cake that was ordered from the GF bakery. It was amazing!
We also loved the in room celebration provided with the package. We chose that over the limo.

And on June 1st we had our MK shoot.

In the end, it was perfect and everything that we wanted it to be :)
