Disneyland Eliminates Early Entry for Resort Hotel Guests Beginning January 5, 2026

Uh.....glad I'm doing my Disneyland trip next month. This sucks.

lollllll

People on Disneyland Reddit are defending this saying "it was a hard perk to use"

Yeah Disney has the easiest fans to downgrade things and get little to no push back
It's embarrassing how Disney fans defend this company no matter what lol

All I can do is shake my head and laugh.

Probably to save for the DL Forward investment they’ve committed to.
I don't think this is to save money for DL Forward. I think it has more to do with profitability of the parks. Costs of goods has gone up. Wages have gone up. Where can they cut that impacts the least number of guests? Adding additional nights of Fantasmic and WOC where they can sell dining/dessert packages probably brings in more money than EE.

Agreed. But cutting this perk opens up more competiton from offsite hotels. There are plenty of people shopping on Main Street and buying food during EE. This cut has the potential to bite back!

Are there? The few times I've been to 8 am rope drop, I haven't seen many people in the stores. Do the restaurants open at 7:30 am?
There are. Some carts. The GG is open. Honestly it is about the wages and staffing. The emporium is usually open.

Yeah, I mean, I love Disney, but that doesn't mean that I think they can do no wrong. They certainly can, and I will call them on it when they do.

Such utter...nevermind. What a rip off. I was going to consider upgrading to the DL hotel for my summer 2026 trip, but screw that. DL hotel pool, which I love,is not enough for me to do that. I was disappointed with 30 minutes EE,but thought it was better than nothing. WDW I imagine will get rid of it unless you stay at a deluxe resort. Funny how they make this announcement the day 2026 reservations open up. I really, really hope people STOP staying onsite. It will serve Disney right.

It's getting to a point where I'm starting to believe these defenders are being paid by Disney. There's no other explanation as to why you'd defend this and other stupid decisions Disney has made.

Yeah - it's hard to make the case that ONE LLMP is better than a 30 minute early entry every day of your stay! How many attractions can one ride in that 30 minutes? Easily at least two, maybe more if you go for the less busy ones. Even one LLMP per day gives you less. Maybe if it gave you a Single Pass ride, that's more of a time save, but it should still be for every day of your stay.

Honestly, this is better for me as I never stay onsite at DL due to the prices, (if they had moderate or values like WDW, then I would). Still, I think it's important that the offer perks for onsite guests - that's what makes it worth it! They have already cut back so much on that stuff. I'm not jealous of those who pay the prices to get perks that I don't get.

Is it possible that you can defend something simply because you’re a level‑headed person who understands why they did what they did — and it has nothing to do with being a Disney fanatic. People seem to think that as soon as you defend something your a fanatic.

This one it's hard to defend, the closing of PPH entrance I can understand.

I rope drop, one store I see gets busy but they don't even open the large Mainstreet store until 8 AM

Does that mean the exit is closing as well?
I'm going to guess that they will open the exit as needed at the end of the day - kind of like how they open the Main Street walkway behind the stores during parades.

I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time back in 2013, and it was great! We got a full hour of extra time in the morning and could run around and do at least 5 rides (of the ones that were available) in that amount of time. It helps that I'm an early bird :-). I was surprised when I had seen they shortened the amount of time to 30 minutes, but this news today of receiving one LLMP during a stay is just unbelievable. I was considering another stay at the Disneyland Hotel next year, but probably won't. Disney just keeps taking too much away. I see no incentive to stay at any of the resort hotels now. I can stay across the way at a hotel on Harbor, paying much less, and with the money I save, pay for LLMP for two people for multiple days!
