I need help with the wording on my daughters birthday party invite. My soon to be 7 year old doesn't want gifts for herself, she wants instead for people to bring a toy to donate to the charity of my daughters choice (she has one in mind)....how would you word that on an invite??

How about something like "Janie enjoys receiving gifts as much as any child but this year she's decided she'd like to help children less fortunate than she and donate presents to our local shelter".

Here's what my DD7 did in May. She got a HUGE response-- 117 books total as well as 14 boxes of markers, 25 boxes of crayons and a game!

No Gifts Please!

If you would like to help Mackie collect children’s books for the less fortunate children at Crossnore School in
Crossnore, North Carolina, please bring along a book or two!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: What a kid you have there! :thumbsup2 You are obviously doing a fantastic job. No help just a pat on the back for you and your daughter :)

We did something like this for DD6 last birthday.

Please come to a birthday with a twist
Please bring a gift but not for me
a canned good would be perfect you see
As for my birthday wish it is to help fill the pantry's list.

Then it was just like join us for Pizza and fun so on and so on

With all the stories of kids gone wrong I love to hear things like this. DD had so much fun bringing everything into the food bank she wants to do it again this year. I also like the idea of bringing items for the local animal shelter.

I have no advice but wanted to commend you both!! At such a young age she already has the "lets help" in her! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I am really proud of her. She recently raised 845.00 for the Leukemia society by sliding into a pool of Jello and she had a lemonaid stand last weekend and is donating that money to a childrens foundation.

Wow!!! What a great kid.

I'd just put "Susie is requesting that instead of a gift for her, you bring a toy or book to donate to underpriveleged children".

I have mentioned this before but DD(10) did something similar this year, she did a coconut themed party and requesting dog food for the shelter on base...it was great.

How about something like: This year the Birthday girl has one wish and that is to share your generosity with others, this year she has decided to donate all of her gifts to "insert place here"

Hope that helps!
