Dh has agreed to a last minute trip to WDW!!!! Yea!!! We will be arriving the Sunday before Thanksgiving and leaving on Thanksgiving Day. Since we are staying at a Deluxe hotel next summer, Dh only agreed to this trip if we stay at a value resort, which is just fine with me. My dks (both boys- 5 yrs old and 3 yrs old) love sports and Toy Story, so I want to stay at either All Star Movies or Sports. Is one better then the other??? Also, I see that there are standard rooms and preferred. What is the difference?? One last question. We always go in April or June. How are the crowds during the time we are going??

Thanks for all your help.

Debbie

Welcome to the DisBoards.

Your trip really isn't last minute by WDW standards, so I wouldn't worry about which resort to choose, it's very likely that one is already sold out for your dates. in other words I wouldn't wait to call for a room.

As far as standard and preferred at the AS's, they rooms are identical in size, the difference is the location within the resort. The preferred rooms are closer to teh food courts and bus stops. That is the only difference.

The crowds are pretty high that time of the year.

The one thing I might add is that if you are going back in the spring, it might be worthwhile to look into annual passes for you and your family. They might be much more economical than any other park admission media. And sometimes there are discounts with AP's for rooms and certain meals.

If you are truly attracted equally to the 2 - I would probably go for Sports, since the buses always go to Sports first, then Music, finally Movies. You are pretty much guaranteed a seat if you are staying in Sports, but if they are sharing buses as they often do - the buses are pretty full by the time they get to Movies.

Prefered rooms cost $10 more a night and are the closest buildings to the food court. They are Surf's Up at Sports and Fantasia at Movies. IMHO it is not worth it to pay an extra $10 a night for these buildings. There is no difference in the rooms.

Leavign before Thanksgiving will give you lighter crowds than if you were arriving Thanksgiving and staying that weekend.

I've stayed at both and other than the theming they are very similar. The only difference could be the buses because when the three All Stars share a bus they drop off/pick up at Sports first. It has never been a problem for me so I would never make my decission on that alone.

We stayed at Touchdown at ASSP and enjoyed the location. Not that long of a walk to buses, food court, and a nice pool with Goofy close by.

Welcome and happy planning!

Thank you for the welcome and all the information. My dh saw some pictures of Sports and Movies. Since he is a sports nut, he is voting for Sports. We won't be spending much time in the room, so I really don't care.

Thanks again. Everyone is so nice here and such a big help.

We've stayed at Sports as well. Its great for us. Touchdown building is good. I have also stayed at Tennis, Basketball, and Surfs Up.

Sports is the first on, first off for busses (at least for all my visits)
