Need Help With Transportation Plan

Hi,

We'll be going to Disneyland in mid-March 2011, flying into LAX and staying at DLH. We'll only be leaving the area on one day only (and requiring transportation) when DH and DS will go to a hockey game whle DD and I go to American Girl Place.

I thought about renting a car for the whole week (if I can get a cheap deal) - which would provide transportation to and from the airport and I could drop DH & DS off at their game while DD and I do our shopping. I am trying to figure out which option would be cheaper. Could anyone help with the costs?

Option 1: Car Rental

-I'll have to pay the weekly rental plus fees (so far the cheapest I can find is $350 including taxes and fees).
-I'll have to pay $15 per day x 7 days if I stay at the DLH (cuz it's in 2011)= $105 + $40 gas
Total - $475

Option 2: Shuttle and Car Rental One Day

- Shuttle is $32 round trip x 4 people = $128
- Car Rental for one day + $20 gas = $100
Total - $228

So...if I can get my weekly car rental under $200 - this might be a good option. Can anyone confirm how easy/cheap it is to do a one day car rental at the DLH? Sometimes a last-minute daily rate can be as much as a well-planned, early-booked weekly rate.

Any advice?
Thanks!

Have you tried vroomvroomvroom.com for a good car rental deal? I just snagged a great deal for a 4-day rental.

Thanks for this! I am curious: I can get a weekly rental on vroomvroom at Alamo for $197 (all taxes/fees included), but I can't get the same rate on Alamo's website. Anyone know why? Also, you need to give a credit card# on this website - do they charge your card? It doesn't look like they do (there's a note that says you don't pay till you are done with the rental). Is it just a credit card guarantee (like hotels)? If so, there's no cancellation penalty, so what's the point of giving your credit card number?

Won't you need a rental for the week under $73 to get a better deal. 73+105+50= 228 ??

If you priceline it, which would be the easy way to get a great one day rate. It may cost money to get to the rental car because it won't nessacarily be from DTD. So that would be tricky.
