Need help with tomorrow...

Tomorrow is a memorial service for my husband's grandmom who passed away in Florida several months ago. (They are bringing her ashes up here, having a service...long story.) Anyhow, I know that there is going to be a ton of food around and this will be my first big challenge since joining WISH. I would prefer not eating anything because I'm afraid if I start I won't stop. I just got my 10 lb clippie and I don't want to give it back, unless it's for a 15 lb or more!! ;) I was thinking of having a bigger breakfast and dinner, just skip lunch. Any tips would be appreciated.
 
Personally I don't think I would skip any meals or eat a huge breakfast. By skipping meals you make yourself that much more hungry and you set yourself up to overindulge. I would just eat a normal meal at breakfast and when you go to the service bring some healthier choice snacks in your purse. This way you can try some healthy choices from the buffet, but you will know that if you are really hungry and there aren't too many healthy choices that you still have food to get you through. I think Tiggerlover's post is on the money. And you have done such a great job to get to this point! The 10 pound clippie is non returnable - only way to get rid of it is to exchange it for a LARGER size! ;) hee hee!

You're going to have to trust yourself eventually. Let tomorrow be a good test for you. Challenge yourself to make the right choices, and if there aren't many healthy options, take very small portions.

I know you can do this. You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow. I hope the memorial service is beautiful and that everyone who attends has a chance to share fond memories.

Good luck. You'll have a bunch of us WISHers sitting on your shoulder. If you feel like there is too much temptation, we'll be there to whisper good advice to you! :)
 
Thank you, both of you! I feel bad being so preoccupied with the food tomorrow and not on the situation at hand. I know this will be a big test tomorrow and I'll just keep everything you said in my mind. Too bad I couldn't just take you all along with me so you could bat the bad stuff right out of my hand. Humm, maybe I'll print out the posts and tuck it in my purse so when I'm tempted I can gain strength in what you said! :D :D :D :D
 

I agree with Tiggerlover and Tig. Don't skip any meals. Eat a good breakfast and eat lunch <i>before</i> you go to the memorial service and reception. If you are full of food before you go the temptation will be much less and saying no to the wrong foods will not only be easier but much less painful.

I don't know which program you are following. Are there any legal treats you can put in your purse or pocket to take with you? I mean yummy legal treats? Something you really like?

Since I'm on Atkins I would take a low carb candy bar, a baggie of macadamia nuts, maybe even sunflower seeds.

Have you got a plan? You need a plan, you know. What treats will you take with you?

I know that you can do this successfully. You are motivated and determined to stay on plan or you wouldn't have posted here about it. That's a very <b>good</b> sign, don't you think? I think it is :) I'm proud of you for thinking ahead.
 
No, I'm not on any particular "plan" but I like to plan what I eat every day! ;) I did a fast when I first started to "cleanse" my system. Now I'm back to being a vegetarian except for an occasional chicken breast. Lots of salads and I adore fruits. My fav is frozen tropical fruit because you can't eat it too fast without getting brain freeze!! ;)
I'm determined to get through this tomorrow, just you wait and see!! :D

I just got in and changed my clothes into something more comfortable. Well, I DID IT!! Wooo-hooo!!! I'm so happy with myself. I had five shimp cocktail and fresh fruit. I feel satisfied and not guilty. Thank you guys! Again, you are the BEST!!!

Yes, it feels absolutely great, thanks Katholyn! As a matter of fact I've decided to reward myself with a nice long bubble bath.
