Hi all - planning a 12 day vacation in June and need help with what kind of tickets I should be ordering.

If I remember correctly, when we joined DVC last year, our guide told us since we "owned property" in Florida we would qualify for resident ticket prices. Does anyone know if this is true?

Also, if not, what would you do? Will be there for 12 days - should I go with annual passes (even though we won't be back within the next year), 10 day tickets, or something else?

What would all of you DVC "veterans" do?

Thanks!

You can check out "undercovertourist.com" for the cheapest ticket prices, but since you are a DVC member, I would think that the DVC discount on an annual pass would be the cheapest way to go for 12 days. Most of the MYW tickets are for only 10 days so you would have to purchase some other ticket for the additional 2 days, while the annual pass would cover all 12.

While I am not an expert on the Florida resident rules, I thought you had to have an "address" in Florida to get the discount which would mean being a resident and having your official mailing address in FL. Simply owning land or property in FL might not qualify, but someone else more schooled in these things may have a different twist to this.

Good luck...12 days in WDW ??...I've died and gone to heaven.

I believe that the discount on the AP is better than the Florida resident rate and may or may not be your best buy. Are you planning any days where you will not need a park pass- ie doing something offsite? doing a water park and maybe then going to DTD or pleasure island to end the day? If so then 10 days will probably enough. If you plan on these other things you may want to consider the 10 day MYW PH with water parks option. Sign up for the mousesaver newsletter and you can get the special link to the UT ticket website with discounts if you decide to go with the MYW tickets. Unless you own some other Florida property and have a mailing address, utility bills and probably a driver's license or official Florida government issued ID I don't think you can get the resident discount. I have friends who have property on the West Coast of Florida and spend 6 months there but because they don't have a Florida driver's license have been unable to get the resident discount at Disney.

We do not get FL resident tickets by virtue of being a DVC owner. IN fact, our documents clearly state that DVC ownership does not qualify us for Florida residency for ay reason.

If you plan 12 park days, the DVC discounted AP is the way to go, whether you return with a year or not.

Unfortunately, it is not true. In order to get Florida resident passes you need a Florida Drivers licence or a state ID.

DVC members do get a discount on the AP, it is about the same price as the FL resident AP.

We will be there for 10days and I am wondering the saemthing. I think if you are planning to be at parks all 12 days an AP would be best for you.

To get the Florida Resident rate/discount you have to have one of the following:
  • FL driver's license
  • FL state issued ID card with FL address
  • FL voter's registration card with picture ID
  • FL college/university ID
  • FL based military ID

The DVC price for an AP is the same as the Florida AP rate.

How many APs can you get the DVC discount on? As an example, my mom is traveling with me on an upcoming trip. Can I purchase a discounted AP for her? I wouldn't think so, but I figured it was worth asking. =)

It depends, does your Mother live with you?

You can purchase a maximum of 8 DVC APs, all adults must live in the same household and have a a photo ID showing the same address.

We are planning a quick 2day trip next month, (spur of the moment) and another longer trip in the fall where we will need to buy more tickets, (our ten day non expy passes will be up).
We are buying DVC now through a resale, but we won't close until April- so we can't use any DVC privellages until then, right? The thing is, we are going to the Czech Republic next year, so we most likely wont be back to Disney until '09. (well maybe we will go for a quick trip again:) )
Should we just buy the tickets we need for the fall trip, buy the annual pass but only use it for 5 days, or buy another round of ten day non exp. tickets to have some days left in 2009. I figure its like buying tickets for 2yrs from now at todays price. (todays price is over $400 a piece- ouch!) You only get a DVC discount on AP's , right? Just not sure what to do

DVC Discounts are only available on APs. Given you current plans, I would try to purchase 10-day non exp. from a reputable online discounted ticket seller.

In your case I would get the DVC discounted AP or Premium AP. What saves me a fortune when I do that though, is once I have an AP I can get a DDE card and save 20% on just about all of my restaurant bills. Depending on your eating habits (amount you cook, type of restaurants) and the number of people in your party, you can eaily make up for any extra amount that an AP costs. Only one person in your party needs a DDE card that can be used for up to 10 people (including alcohol). If you already have decided on the DDP, then this may not help you. Nowadays, I factor in the food and park tickets together, do the math and see what works best for each trip.

I was wondering if we should by one Prem. AP? We are a group of six. We are NOT staying at the resort and will be there for two weeks. Would it be worth it for the food and merchandise discounts and parking. Parking alone will be $100. Can you get discounts on 10 water park fun and more tickets with expiry if you have a AP? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Does it have to be a Adult one?? Or can we buy a kids one and get the discounts???:confused3 :confused3

A 3-9 AP does not get the discounts, only guests 10+ APs get them. As for discounts, I don't know. We just get the PAP because we go at least 16 days each year and spend lots of time at the water parks in the summer.
