Need help with San Francisco, leave in a few days...

Need some help, we leave in a few days to go spend 1 night and 2 days in San Francisco. DH, myself and DS (age 6) are going.
We are staying at the Hyatt Regency.
We plan to go to the Aquarium by the Bay, we live in Monterey and go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium at least once a month, since DS LOVES animals. I plan on a couple of hours and then what else to see or do around our hotel?

The next day we plan to go to the SF Zoo, members there and again DS loves it.

We would love to ride a cable car, can we take one from our hotel to the Aquarium?
Any other ideas/suggestions to go see? Amazing places to eat?
Pier 39? Embarcadero Center?

The Maritime Museum is near there. You could also head over to the Walt Disney Family Museum in The Presidio. Not sure where your hotel is, but the Hyde/Powell line drops you off right by Ghiradelli (sp?) Square. The F Line street cars might be a better choice depending on where your hotel is.

Try the California cable car line, way less crowded, and I think the hills are better!

My favorite spot is Golden Gate fortune cookie factory on Ross Alley in Chinatown. Super cool to see where they make the cookies, and they are yummy! Quick stop though, seriously a hole in the wall.

Golden Gate park childrens' playground is great with old concrete slide. I love Nopalito for lunch or dinner... one on 9th b/w Irving and Lincoln (one also near Fell and Divisadero). Lots of great places to eat at 9th and Irving. Arizmendi bakery has YUM chocolate cake!

You could go to the new exploratorium at Pier 15. Maybe Cable Car museum? A nice walk along Crissy field if the weather is ok - it's been cold!!!
