Hi

Could you please give me some info on renting points. We will be visiting in early January 2007 and are looking into renting points. How do we find out how many points we would need for our proposed stay. At the moment we're thinking 4 or 5 nights but can't decide where. How do the prices compare? Hope my post makes sense.

Thanks

Go to the rent and trade bd.

Your post sounds like someone who has no idea what they are doing...which is a good thing to understand, not a bad thing.

Go first to the DVC Rent/Trade board and read http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1069406

Read it all, especially the last 2/3 of the post, which explains the basics.

THEN...come back here and post any specific questions you might have about the rental process. Don't do, "So...tell me ALL about renting!" because nobody's going to respond to that.

The keys to remember about renting are that 1) Renting a DVC reservation is NOTHING like making a hotel reservation (it almost requires solid vacation dates and no changes to work best for both parties), and 2) renting requires trust on both sides, but it's a wonderful way to a) get a great bargain vacation, and b) experience DVC.

Good luck!

Also -- and I just noticed you're from the UK -- you may find it easier to rent from a countryman, because you won't have the currency fluctuation issues to deal with.

DVC point charts are at the top of this page. Usually, ifyou are renting a studio on points versus booking a room through Disney, if you book 4-5 nights Sunday through Thursday, you will get a cheaper price. Good luck!

I rented to someone from the UK last year, and used PayPal, which did the conversion on the money. It worked well for both of us. :thumbsup2 You will want to find someone who is renting, and uses PayPal, or similar.

Also, you may want to research all the DVC resorts to see which one would fit best for you and yours.

And, I second Judique good luck and well wishes to you!

Hi

Thanks so much for all the replies. We've decided that BCV is our first choice and we'll be wanting 4 nights from 01/01/2007. We were hoping for 5 nights from New Year's Eve but decided that we probably wouldn't get it.

Oh dear, you should've booked that back in February. Don't worry though, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are lovely that time of year.
