I need help from my Minneapolis area Dis-friends.

I have a friend in Rosemount, MN whose husband is home from the hospital after some major complications following surgery and she is battling stage 4 cancer. I would like to send something like a grocery store or restaurant gift card to help out. Can anyone tell me what grocery stores are in that area or restaurants that I could get a gift card to? I am trying to give them something that can actually use and not just the usual flowers. :)

Thanks!

Rosemount is sort of a ways out. Most people down there are probably going to do their regular shopping at Cub, but there is a Byerlys/Lunds and a Kowalski's in Eagan or Apple Valley if you want to give them a "specialty grocery" experience - both are high end markets.

I would suggest Coborn's Delivers. It's an online grocery store that delivers to homes here in the Twin Cities. Their website is cobornsdelivers.com. I have only ordered from them a time or two but was very pleased with the service. Their prices are a bit more than the grocery store, and there is a $5 delivery fee, but for someone who may or may not feel like making a trip to the store, it's great! I checked online and they do offer gift cards.

If your friends are able to get out, Cub Foods is probably the largest, most accessible supermarket chain in the Cities.

Hope that helps!

Coborn's delivers is a great idea. You can go on their site and put in her zipcode to make sure they deliver there.

My SIL lives quite close to Rosemount and she does the vast majority of her shopping at SuperTarget in I think Apple Valley. They tend to be less expensive than Cub.

I live in Apple Valley--right next to Rosemount. I would say that the SuperTarget in Apple Valley (right on the border) would be the cheapest and cub maybe the closest depending on where they live. Hugs to them. It is a nice thought of you to do that.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I will probably get a Target gift card since I can buy that here and mail it instead of ordering plus they have to option of getting what they really need/want.

These guys have had a very tough last few years.......I cannot even imagine how they cope.

There is a Red Robin in Apple Valley.

Personally, I would go for a Target gift card over a Cub Foods gift card if you're going with the grocery store gift card. Just because I love SuperTarget and despise Cub!!

Plus, if they are in need of dish detergent or even OTC meds, things like that will be much less expensive at Target. So that is a great idea, OP. I wish your friends the best. A few years ago, I suddenly lost my sister and some friends sent us a grocery certificate as well as a few others who sent us meals and you have no idea what a relief that kind of thing is. I am sure this will really bless your friend.

I would agree with the Target gift card. It gives them the most flexibility with groceries/misc. purchases.

I am more familiar with Lakeville/Burnsville area, but Target or Cub would be the best options for Minneapolis.

Target card without a doubt would be welcomed for so many reasons.
