Any suggestions on how to get rid of mildew on the bathtub tile? I've tried Tilex, Bam Bathroom and even tried the suggestion from my mother using toothpaste. It won't even fade. It's gross and I hate it, would love to hear how you got rid of it. thanks!

Bleach make sure the room is well ventalated. I spray it on and let it sit a bit and the use a stiff brush to scrub it off then rinse it well. Once the mold is gone use a car polish to shine the tile and help the water and soap scum roll off as you shower.

Yes, Bleach mixed wih a bit of water in a spray bottle...let it sit perhaps a couple of hours rinse well and u might need to do again...keep windows OPEN! let us know if it works...

Try vinegar and dish soap. I don't measure, I just put about 4 cups of vinegar in a bowl and squirt a circle of dish soap in. It cleaned my bathroom tiles great, but I'm not sure what was on them, if it was mildew or not, but they're clean and stay clean now and that's all I care!! :)

Have you tried a vinegar and baking soda paste? I love cleaning with vinegar and baking soda, it leaves my house smelling like vinegar (yes, I like the smell of vinegar:thumbsup2) and I don't have to worry about harsh chemicals. I used it to clean my badly stained tub and was shocked at how well it worked!

I vote for the bleach and water in spray bottle. I am the last one who leaves the house during the week. Often times just spray down the showers and tubs. Come back after work and the work is done. No more dark stains. Make a routine of it and no hard scrubbing needed.

Vinegar and a tiny bit or soap or baking soda. Or straight bleach. I prefer the vinegar though cause if the tile is porous it won't take the color out of the tile.

I use a combination of bleach and water in a spray bottle. When I am out of the shower, I spray the tile and let it sit.

I bought Kaboom Mildew spray, it worked BUT it smelled so horrific that we couldn't sleep in the attached bedroom!

I'm also looking for a non-bleach alternative to get rid of the stains.

Thanks!! I am going to try each one of these and let you know what worked. :)

I have read that one part bleach to 4 parts water works great for mildew. of course I haven't gotten around to trying it, but I have been meaning to try it.

I have a great solution to this problem and it doesn't involve the repetitive use of bleach and other chemicals. I thoroughly cleaned my shower with soft scrub w/ bleach and then let it dry for a few days. Then, I purchased grout paint(white) at Home Depot for $6 and used a very small brush to paint over the problem areas. It is a bit of a pain to paint, but the excess easily wipes off. I have to say that my shower looks so much better!
