ok....so it's like this....we just got back from WDW a week ago and all of a sudden (as of yesterday), it looks as if my daughter and I are going to be at WDW in about 8 days from now....

so i've got to make those reservations ASAP...
since it's just the two of us, it makes sense for us to stay at a value resort this time..

the last time we did that was something like 8 or 9 years ago (we stayed at the All Star Music and the All Star Sports - Movies hadn't been built yet)....

Anyone who has more recent experience, which resort do you recommend?
Pop Century or All Star Movies, or Music or Sports?

by the way, we'll have a rental car, so it doesn't matter if the buses are good or not.

On that thought, which building do you suggest that would be close to the parking lot? (or are they all close?)

Also, do you know if any of them will be having a huge convention (of wild screaming teens) at that time (mid august)?

Thanks in advance

Hiya

I think its great your going back so soon,

I like the all star resorts, I have stayed at the sports and will be staying at the movies this year. Apparently at the movies the mighty ducks section is close to the parking lot.

dont know about the groups though, there always seems to be masses of cheerleaders in the sports when ever we go whether its june of december lol

have a brilliant time

Beth - I loved All Star Movies when we were there in December.

But I hear great things about Pop - along the lines of, the stuff they could have got better at the All Stars, they fixed for Pop. If the Pop theme appeals, I would go there!

Fabulous, another trip. Even better when it's unexpected!

i was thinking about it and i figure we should try the Pop since we've been at the all stars a few times.....it's good to try new things...

it's actually kind of a business trip, but we'll also manage some visits to the parks (we have APs so that part won't cost anything)..

should be relaxing....and by mid august, the crowds usually aren't as bad....so i'll keep my fingers crossed...

Highly recommend All Star Movies (Purdey building) good food court, quick buses, excellent staff, wonderful maids, approx 20 mins to everywhere by bus, next time we stop on site we may try this again or Pop Century which looks wonderful too!

i called to make a reservation and it turns out we'll be staying at WL...

you don't even want to know the rate i just got for the WL next week.....
i guess it must mean the crowds will be greatly reduced if i got a rate like this...

ready?....for the WL.....$124/night....that's the wilderness lodge....and that's when Pop was only $25 less than that....
so guess which one i picked....oh...i already told you...

i have to admit i was really looking forwards to the pop....i love trying new disney properties....but it really was an offer i couldn't refuse....

That is a GOOD rate - I'm not surprised you went for it. Have a great trip - again!

the reservations CM whom I spoke with was so sweet...
she first tried to get me a good rate at Pop...
she said she'd just made reservations for september for the person right before me for $54/night at the Pop, which sounded great to me..
but she couldn't get that for me for next week.....
so she kept looking and found that great rate at WL....how sweet of her to take the time to look...
we actually had a lovely conversation while i made the reservations (she couldn't believe i was calling from so far away, since the connection was so good....)
anyway....some of those reservations CMs are so very helpful...

i love the WL so it should be nice and relaxing....since it's only my daughter and me, we'll just take it easy in between business meetings....unfortunately, i can't go on her favorite ride with her (ToT).......i doubt she'll want to ride it alone...that takes all the fun out of it...
at least i can go on splash mountain with her....(her other favorite ride)....

but mostly we'll just walk around and take it easy...swim, maybe a little bike riding...
