Need help with ideas for get together before the big day!

I am planning my vow renewal and need some help with planning something special for my guests. My ceremony will be at the WP at 5pm followed by cocktail hour/reception at the White Hall room. Because of the time I won't be able to do a dessert party. I am having about 40-50 guests. I would really like to do something special like a small get together before the wedding. Should I do a dessert party or some other informal event, like a welcome party? Should I invite all the guests or just immediate family? I assume I will have a rehearsal, should I just have a dinner afterwards and invite immediate family only? I just feel like doing something with everyone before the big day.

I think a dessert party would be nice for the day before! You could do just your immediate family or branch out to extended family as well!
